'Lawmakers in at least 25 states have introduced bills that would require presidential candidates to release their tax returns to appear on the 2020 ballot in that state — a clear swipe at President Trump, the only modern president who's refused to release his personal tax returns.

Why it matters: In theory, Trump could be blocked from the ballot in any state where the new requirement became law. But not a single state has enacted it so far, and the governors of California and New Jersey have vetoed it after it passed both state chambers. It's more interesting as a way for state Democrats to troll Trump than as an actual re-election threat.

Where it stands: Rhode Island is the latest state to pass this measure through its state Senate, according to the Providence Journal, and Maryland's state Senate passed a bill in May. Both will now move to their states' House of Delegates for consideration.

One big problem: It might not be constitutional for a state to require presidential candidates to release their tax returns in order to get ballot access. The U.S. Supreme Court has previously ruled that neither states nor the federal government can create additional qualifications for congressional representatives or senators, per AP, and various legal experts anticipate that would extend to presidential candidates.'

Too bad these laws probably won't get passed..because there is NO WAY Trump is worth $10 billion. Or even remotely close to that.

Only seems fair:
Whether any of these bills become law remains to be seen. What is clear is that political theater is alive and well, just as it was in 2011 and 2012, when Republicans in at least eight states introduced bills requiring presidential candidates to provide copies of their long-form birth certificate as a condition of getting on the ballot.

He might be now, his wallet is getting fatter and fatter by the hour. His family is making millions, pay to play on steroids.

Who fucking cares?

You just created an argument and than shot it down in flames. I bet you are the kind to light your own farts too!

You don't even know the meaning of the term, so why should anyone listen to libtard speak?

I have as a series of serious, yet simple question for you libtards.

If you were given $1billion, would you spend any of it?

How much of that $1 billion would it take to keep every single one of your descendants rich beyond their wildest dreams?

Finally, if Trump was to make $100 million this year, how much of that would wind up in the federal coffers to pay benefits to libtards, and how much would there be if he made $100?

Gee, the white people in the UP of MI, where I'm from are on food stamps, the ACA and Medicaid, but they voted for Trump. So many on social programs voted for Trump,
see he likes the "poorly educated".

What does your response have to do with my questions?

Not a fucking thing, you hysterical dumbass!

So I take it liberals have finally come to the realization that TRUMP is not going to be impeached over the Russia witch hunt...

I'm not up election law, but it seems clear to me that a state cannot interfere with a federal election.
