Illegal immigration may be a thriving political topic, but as a cross-border migration trend, it has "sputtered to a trickle," at least from Mexico, reports Damien Cave in The New York Times. And a growing body of research points to a surprising reason why: Income, employment prospects, and life in general is getting better in Mexico, making the arduous trek north less appealing.

Mexico Unemployment RateThe unemployment rate in Mexico was last reported at 5.2 percent in May of 2011. From 2000 until 2010, Mexico's Unemployment Rate averaged 3.45 percent reaching an historical high of 5.93 percent in May of 2009 and a record low of 2.22 percent in November of 2002. The labour force is defined as the number of people employed plus the number unemployed but seeking work. The nonlabour force includes those who are not looking for work, those who are institutionalised and those serving in the military. Mexico Unemployment Rate

There are jobs in Mexico and they are comparable to the cost of living. They come here for a "mo better life" at the expense of American and they find the wages are comparable to the cost of living also and and they are still low wage earners and if they have a "jack pot baby" life is not so bad because welfare mother do not imform welfare that they have a live in working man. They come for the benefits.
