"The Battle of New Orleans, Part II"

In two thousand ten, we took a little trip,
Along with Colonel Hayward down the mighty Mississip,
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans,
And we caught a bloody blowout just south of New Orleans

[Chorus:]
We hired Haliburton and the oil it started runnin',
There was a bunch of sludge where there was none once before.
We heard the wellhead roar and it really started comin'
On up the Mississippi from the Gulf of Mexico

We looked underwater and we'd seen the oil slick come,
And there must have been 5,000 barrels floating toward the sun,
It flowed so fast that it made the lawyers sing,
While the phones in the White House, well they began to ring.

[Chorus]

Old Hayward said we could take em by surprise,
It'll be a few days 'fore they sort through all the lies,
We held our ground 'till the Coast Guard saw the well,
Then we offered Gump five thousand bucks to spare us legal hell

[Chorus]

Yeah it ran up the coastline and it ran through the marshes,
And it ran into spaces where the oysters like to go.
It ran so fast that the skimmers couldn't catch it,
On up the Mississippi from the Gulf of Mexico

We tried the ROV's but we couldn't move around,
So we grabbed another drill bit and we slammed it in the ground.
We didn't see this coming no we couldn't even grasp,
But when the day is over we'll be paying out our ass.

[Chorus]

Yeah it ran up the coastline and it ran through the marshes,
And it ran into spaces where the oysters like to go.
It ran so fast that the skimmers couldn't catch it,
Up the Mississippi from the Gulf of Mexico

Well that is an imaginative use of an old Johnny Horton number.
