In any contest between Armies... the US is going to annihilate what ever forces the Middle East brings to bear.

Now that's an incontrovertible fact... and what makes it a fact?

The US will control the high ground... meaning that the US possesses uncontested air superiority... Beyond that, the US has satellite intelligence...

Thus, NO oppossing forces can be massed without the US knowing where they are.

Ergo... where ever those forces are, they will be eviscerated....

I'm sure that you're counting on the Soviet-era SAMS... and I would only point out that the SAME people that built the Iranian Anti-Aircraft envelope, built the Iraqi envelope which was what protected those thousands of troops ya see eviscerated above...

Iran has NO CHANCE of putting up any sort of air campaign after the first few hours of any exchange with US Forces. None... ZIP, ZERO... NADA! ZILCH...

Absent air cover, Iranian ground forces will be chopped to pieces where they stand... Armor, Artillery and troops...

So, let's just set aside all of the "4th Largest Army in the WORRRLD!" Crap... along with the obligatory "THEY'RE BATTLE HARDENED..." BS... It didn't play too well when President Hussein was HOPING on it to CHANGE his circumstances and it isn't gonna help President Al Ahmamidget... or Iran.

It wasn't too long ago when the same thing was said about China and Russia coming to spare Iraq... that Iran would shutdown the gulf and all the Russia/China technocrap would render US Satellites and Carriers ineffective... and the always popular "IRAQ IS THE 4TH LARGEST ARMY IN THE WOOOORRRLLD!" That Iraqi troops were BATTLE HARDENED FROM DECADES OF FIGHTING with IRAN! And that ISLAM would set aside it's natural, historic differences... and rally to Iraq's defense; and that the US would lose tens of thousands of troops, before having to sue for peace.

Now what actually happened was the the Chinese and Russians didn't do shit to defend their Islamic Socialist brothers... and Iraq's battle hardened forces were EVISCERATED in right at 4 days... or 100 hours, if ya prefer.

Of course that was the first time... and the US didn't invade Iraq, beyond the southern deserts... but fast forward ten years and 25% of the US forces that took Iraq on the first time, returned and took Iraq down in 2 weeks.

Again neither China nor Russia did shit...

Russian Cruise Missiles will not turn the battle, Chinese Cyberwarfare specialists will not turn the battle... and Iran's Air power resources will be smoldering on the desert inside 24 hours from moment that US Forces are given the signal to take Iran down. After that... Iran's military will fold up like a cheap suit and melt into the civilian population where they will muddle along with a flaccid 'insurgency'... Assuming the US tries to occupy Iran.

Which I would hope we would not... for all the obvious reasons.

But, please... enough with the might and power of the Middle eastern forces... and their impenetrable alliances with the Communists.

People, read a history book and learn about some type of economics before suggesting that Greece is the prequel to an American economic downfall. You are wrong on so many levels that I'll commit to being fallacious by just asserting that fact without any evidence, I don't need any.

It's so funny, because you think your espousing realist ideas, but then turn around and completely disregard all realist notions like the balancing, counterbalancing, and how nations always act to serve their own interests. Of course they didn't stop us going into Iraq, why would they need to? They PAY for our wars, we aren't going to shut off oil coming from Iraq, plus if you werent aware we were defending those oil fields there so that Hussein wouldn't pull another Kuwait.

Iran is completely different. China gets a majority of its energy from there IIRC, and to think that they would let America risk destabilizing their meteoric rise is to completely ignore fucking reality.
