mmm...With Democrat/Republican policies, regulations and rather poor leadership over the years is taking a toll on the classic American resolve of self reliance, self determination and such. With many almost begging for complete government control over their life's now.. I'm left with this.

I wonder if John F. Kennedy or Reagan would even recognize the Democrat/Republican Party's of today?

No....i really believe he wouldn't.

My parents were always democrats...they mourned when Kennedy died. I was only in 4th grade, and everyone in class bowed their heads.

I know for a fact, that my parents would not have still been democrats now. In fact i know my parents voted for Reagan, and for dad Bush...they both died in the 90's. I would love to talk to my dad right now about the way things are now...i know it would be great!

I'm tending to agree with you.. we're squabbling over who's more to blame it seems.

I think we should just accept we're being played by both Political Parties and quit bullshitting ourselves.

Yes, Kennedy proposed an across-the-board tax rate cut (which was enacted under Johnson), and the economy flourished. Such tax cuts are always successful, and bring in more revenue to the government. President Reagan cut the top income tax rate from 70% to 28%, and we had 21 quarters of steady growth, and 20 million jobs were created. Revenue to the treasury almost doubled.

(Please ignore the history revisionists who would have you believe that Reagan raised taxes. There were some adjustments in allowable deductions, but the overall rates were lowered, and that's why we grew out of the Carter "malaise" recession.)

To answer your question: yes, today's Democrats would disown President Kennedy. Today's Democrats are more interested in punishing the rich that they are in helping the economy. If fact, they want as many people as possible to be in economic distress so they will become dependent on government, and move us toward a socialist welfare state.

Well, when both Parties believe it's just fine to not negotiate legislation and just wait for the next election there's obviously a sickness in the political system, a lack of concern and results for the American people.
