The 30 year old co ed is past President of Students for Reproductive justice.

I love how people are mad she is a female activist. Wouldn't the religious leaders they invited be religious activist? And don't most of history of activism?
Yeah, another case of right wingers being hypocritical and trying to recover from one of their own making them look like assholes.
So what if she did this? Wouldn't that make her an expert on arguing for reproductive health for women?
Get a freaking clue.

The difference being that religious activists haven't been pretending to be something that they're not. Since I know you won't be familiar with this concept, that would be what MORAL human beings call "lying".

Get a freaking clue.

I unlike you, am not a retarded monkey... so, could you just answer the question, you retarded monkey?

jesus christ i just did...Seriously you make retarded monkeys look smart.

see bold.

justice about womens reproductive issues
This is pretty vague buddy... please, show us how smart you are, give us some examples of what you speak.

It is vague because, if he actually explained it, he would end up saying something really stupid. What reproductive justice ultimately comes down to is that it is unjust that women have babies and men do not.

She's a ringer. Just another sham. Why do the Sheople buy into this stuff all the time? It's just a concocted distraction. These Social issues are not real problems. They're just being used to distract the Sheople. We have very serious problems in this country and this silly issue isn't one of them. It's not a Government issue. It's a private issue. The Government should not be involved with Contraception or Abortions. No one should be forced to fund either one. They really are private mattters. Time to get the Government out of these issues.

I dont see this as a social issue. It's an entitlement/big government issue. This woman wants the government to pay for her bc. Doesnt matter whether its bc or some other topic, it's not social its fiscal.

She wants a company not discriminate againsts it female employees. Yeah, the outrage.

"Not discriminate against its female employees"? Is the company in question purchasing birth control for men, and telling the broads to go take a flying leap? No? Then shut the fuck up with the "outraged vagina" routine.

Well, no doubt the woman is a slut. She's 30, maybe what her real story is that she has to pay guys to do her and can't afford both expenses. Her competition are young college girls, not 30 year old has beens that don't want to leave college to get a real job.

And I'll bet you believe she deserves to be raped too...just like that reporter in Egypt you said deserved to be raped.

Since when did Ms. Fluke pretend to be something she was not? Clarify please.

i dont find it offensive

You are the exception. I keep hearing about how Rush insulted someone by using the sexually offensive word slut. Yet you think pointing out that the "student" is actually an activist with an agenda is more stupid.

Especially since Rush never used the word slut at all. The word slut was brought into THIS discussion by liberals on this board. Rush Limbaugh never used it himself.

Wanna try again, champ?

That is why you have vision insurance, just like people have health insurance to buy birth control.

Yeah, and she pays for it... she doesn't ask you to pay for it. Not a minor detail there Sparky.

Your point? Your argument has nothing to do with this discussion. She pays for vision, I pay for health insurance that covers birth control. The female employees of companies owned by the Catholic Church also pay for their health insurance.

Is it really that hard for you right wingers to get over " I am not paying for it" argument? If you want to discuss health insurance covered by the government and tax dollars start another freakin thread. This is not the issue here.

How is it not the issue? Any female employee of any Catholic business that wants to add contraceptives to their coverage is free to do so. This particular activist does not work for Georgetown, she goes to school there, and that insurance is are paid by the school, not the students.

Seriously, go start your own thread if you think that she pays insurance for insurance at a school by going to school.

As the article correctly notes, this disaster for republicans could have been easily avoided had the radical right been kept in check.

Fluke eventually testified before a House Democratic panel, telling a sad story about a female friend who lost an ovary because Georgetown's student insurance would not cover the birth control she needed to treat a medical condition.

Her testimony sparked the ire of Rush Limbaugh, who accused Fluke of being a "slut" and a "prostitute" who is "having so much sex she's going broke."

Limbaugh's outrageous attacks have now turned Fluke into a culture war poster-child for Democrats.

President Obama has personally come to her defense, and Georgetown University officials released a statement today defending Fluke as the "model of civil discourse."

Even Republicans have been forced to disavow Limbaugh's comments.

All of this would have likely been avoided if House Republicans had just let Fluke testify in the first place. Her absence left the contraception panel with no female speakers, sparking outrage — and a major fundraising push — from Democratic women in the House.

(House Oversight Chair Darrell Issa rejected Fluke's testimony on the grounds that she was "unqualified," arguing that the panel was about religion, not about women.)

In reality, Fluke would not have been a very effective witness. As a student, she wouldn't even be affected by the Obama policy on employer-provided health plans. Georgetown actually offers contraception in its employee plans.

Moreover, Republicans could have easily dismissed Fluke as a feminist activist.

According to a bio on Georgetown's website, Fluke's professional background is in domestic violence and human trafficking advocacy. At Georgetown law, she is the former president of Law Students for Reproductive Justice, an editor for the Journal of Gender and the Law, and vice president of the Women's Legal Alliance. She has a bachelor's degree in Feminist, Gender & Sexuality studies from Cornell.

Under normal circumstances, this resume would make Fluke an easy target for Republicans. But Limbaugh's misogynistic vitriol has made the 30-year-old feminist virtually untouchable, and Democrats couldn't be happier.

Indeed.

Do you still think Employment Division v Smith applies to federal laws?

She wants a company not discriminate againsts it female employees. Yeah, the outrage.

No, she wants the Jesuits to pay for students to have sex.

or not discriminate against its females employees or students, while cover other elective drugs. Even ones that are male specific elective drugs.

And they say liberals argue with their emotions, and not facts.

Discriminate? Seriously? Do they pay for male students to get contraception but not female students? If not, how is not buying ot for women too discrimination?

I agree
This woman is a failure/skank/slut
By the time I was 30 I owned two homes and had six figures in my 401k
I wasn't whining to congress for a fucking condom

lol,

when I was 29 I had a unicorn ranch and a talking Doberman who called me 'Captain'.

The internet, posers' paradise.

Yeah, this girl is such a dead beat. Georgetown Law school is pretty bottom of the barrel. Plus being asked to testify in front of congress is so white trash, man she is such a loser.

Most 30yo women do not like to be called girl.

The Jesuits don't pay for it. The premiums collected from the insured pay for it.

Your ignorance of how insurance works is stunning.

You sure? I have a friend who works for the Archdiocese here in NOLA... the Archdiocese pays for the insurance, not the insured.

Well, first of all, I doubt that story because I can't imagine anyone as repugnant as you having friends.

Second of all, yes I'm sure. 1. the students don't work for Georgetown 2. Georgetown CHARGES the students an insurance premium.

So AGAIN,

the Jesuits aren't being asked to pay for BC pills. They are being asked to cover the payment of them out of the PREMIUMS they collect.

The self pay insurance, you should look up what that means.

Get a freaking clue.

Let me know when the religious activists are demanding taxpayers foot the bill for whatever goods or services they claim they are entitled to have at taxpayer expense. All political activists are not equal -nor seeking the same things.

This contraceptive bullshit was a DELIBERATE distraction started by Obama and the left NOW in order to divert people's attention from the REAL ISSUES to totally PHONY ONES. No one on the right was even talking about contraceptives -Obama concocted it as a phony issue to run on because HE CAN'T RUN ON HIS RECORD. He NEEDS people to forget about his record so he can pretend some kind of whacko extremist focusing on birth control instead of "serious issues" is trying to take his job.

But if you want to know the difference between a liberal and conservative political activist, the difference is ALWAYS the same. The political activists on the left are always insisting the things they WANT are newly declared "rights", which means government is supposed to PROVIDE it -which in reality means taxpayers are supposed to foot the bill for whatever they declare is now a "right". In the liberal world, "rights" places an obligation on fellow citizens to PAY FOR IT so they can have it for "free". It is really redefining their new demand for another entitlement as a "right" -and for the left "rights" are ALWAYS tangible goods and services, things that are produced by other human beings. So they are in effect laying claim to the work of others as something they are entitled to. At the expense of others of course.

Political activists on the right are always insisting forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for these THINGS so politicians can claim they "care" is actually not the proper role of government and even dangerous to allow government to lay claim to the power to do so. It is a constant battle with the left demanding "gimme, gimme" and the right insisting it is a major mistake that has ended the same way every time and will again. Leftist activists engage in the same old tired, cheesy communist stunt of pretending whatever goods and services the left wants for "free" are actually rights -is deliberate and part of the left's own documented strategy to alter the very definition of "rights" so people start associating their rights as something government GIVES us -instead of the truth. That our rights are something that must be protected FROM government. Our real rights place NO obligation on fellow citizens whatsoever-our rights aren't GIVEN by government, they don't come from government, they don't come from fellow citizens. And most importantly, fellow citizens don't owe you a fucking dime to help you exercise them either. But this leaves we the people far too powerful and interferes with the left's real agenda which is about POWER and CONTROL -so the definition of "rights" MUST be bastardized, corrupted and redefined and the population indoctrinated to believe their corrupted version instead.

This is necessary in order to distract people from realizing their real rights are being encroached upon, weakened, corrupted -and will eventually be claimed by government. Our real rights is about WHO HAS THE POWER IN THIS COUNTRY -not about laying claim to goods and services. So if they can divert you from realizing your rights give you POWER they want and try to get you to sell it for some cheap bauble being dangled in front of you. Like birth control pills of all things. Sadly there are plenty of people who so little value their real rights, they would sell their own rights and those of my children for NINE BUCKS A MONTH. The cost of birth control pills. This is all done to deliberately breed generations with nothing but an entitlement mentality and dependency on government. Being dependent on government makes it easier to be controlled by the left which seeks power and control over YOU. The ultimate goal of leftwing ideology is the totalitarian state -oh, for the "best interests" of the people seeing as how the left knows better how to run your life than you do. It is their OWN strategy, detailed by the left itself for decades now -and I'm not making this up. This woman is doing exactly what she is supposed to do by insisting making sure people like her can have more worry-free sex is actually OUR job, OUR responsibility, OUR obligation-and therefore OUR BILL. The entire leftist agenda can be summed up as a plan to replace the true American value of individualism with collectivism. Period. They also seek to replace individual rights with group rights in order to shift the balance of power away from we the people -to the left. But that is another topic for another thread.

This is just one more typical leftwing extremist bullshit of first declaring yet another goods and service to be a "right" with government insisting it now obligates fellow citizens to GIVE it at their own expense to those who WANT it -and are stupid enough to believe that somehow makes it "free" and that being "free" to have more worry free sex and being "free" to kill one's unwanted unborn child is actually what is meant by "freedom". The REAL questions here are: who benefits from pushing that truly dumb ass belief? And what do they gain? Pretty easy to answer both given the fact they actually put it in writing and the reasons for it -and they are ugly, ugly answers. I'm sticking with conservatives -it is not the proper role of government to get involved with providing birth control or abortion and it is IMMORAL to force taxpayers to foot the bill for either of them and just as immoral to try and force others to foot the bit for them -and worse yet, it is a gross violation of the Constitution to demand religious institutions who self-insure must violate the tenets of their own religion and forced to pay for it. Calling goods and services that are produced by other human beings a "right" when it is no such thing doesn't change the FACT it is actually government doing EXACTLY what the 1st Amendment said government had no right to do at all. Interfering with the free exercise of religion -which the left apparently doesn't realize is NOT just the right to have religious beliefs, but includes the right to actually LIVE in accordance with them. The FREE EXERCISE part means just that.

That is why you have vision insurance, just like people have health insurance to buy birth control.

no, the question is why this huge outcry over having to submarine 230 years of religious conscience protections over birth control INSTEAD OF a vision plan or dental....see?

The Catholic church has no 'conscience' claim here. The church is complying with state laws on this already. Somehow, their 'conscience' changed its tune when their bluff was called.

I have two points.

Georgetown is in Washington DC and is not subject to state laws. They self insure, and all states actually exempt anyone who self insures because that is covered by federal law. Seriously, you just look stupid when you try to argue like you know what you are talking about, you should keep your mouth shut.

The 30 year old co ed is past President of Students for Reproductive justice.

The reason this bothers right wingers is that word "justice".

Like "We didn't bring Bin Laden to justice", Obama did.

What bothers me is the misuse of the word justice.

Well it is an insult, but who cares? Nothing is going to be done about it and Rush got what he wanted. Attention.

I find it stupid anyone is bitching about this, when they're so many other things people have to cover. Like Fat people, Or smokers, and you dont get a say in the matter. Now all of a sudden Birth control is a giant issue?

Everyone these days has an agenda..You, I, anyone on this board. So her having one is meaningless.

I do not want to be forced to subsidize a lot of things, yet you think I should have to. Every time I start talking about the mandate being wrong you come in and whine about not being able afford health care. which is not my problem. Now you want to make birth control an issue, and pretend I am the one doing it.

My agenda is to get you to leave me the frack alone, what's yours?

i think you should have too? where did i ever state this?
I can't afford Healthcare, i just can't,but i am conflicted with a national healthcare system.
I'm not making Birth control an issue, EVERYONE is making it an issue. Just by you being in here you are making it an issue.

Did you suddenly rescind your support of Obamacare? My issue is you telling me that I need to buy contraceptives.

please shut up, fuck i am tired of you just making shit up all the time in order to promote you moronic agenda of making this world that much more stupid.

Obamacare is passed, The right therefore scans every little line in it looking for these type of issue. ( see Viagra debate ). This new issue is not the first issue. It wont be the last.

It doesn't matter who the fuck started what. If it was the right who passed the bill i would expect the left to do the same exact thing. Its the way life is.

So please shut the fuck up already.

Sorry. I can't comply. I have a First amendment right to speak out against evils such as this that you stand for. I cannot see my neighbor oppressed by politicians and remain silent. I have a moral obligation to do so as well. As much as you hate the fact that I stand against you, I will continue to do so.

Obamacare has to be repealed or there will be countless lives lost. But you dont really care about that do you?

what? punch yourself in the face for saying something so stupid. Dont worry you wont damage anything.

correct you do have that right to speak, and i have that right to call you a stupid fucking moron for saying stupid fucking things.

thankfully people like you are a dying breed and eventually you wont matter anymore.

Violence is your only reaction to your inability to comprehend that actions have consequences?

Government interference in health care increases the costs and limits the availability. If less people can afford it, then more people will die. Simple cause and effect.

Not to mention overburdening the government will eventually lead to a collapse in the system. The violence that would cause will be unmeasurable. We are one of the greatest civilizations that ever existed. When we fall, it will cause incredible destruction.
