Thanksgiving is just what we need to change the dark mood in November

I LOVE Thanksgiving!

This year, my older boys will spend it with my sister and my mother on the other side of the state..so it will be just me and my two youngest. Last year we had guests, this year we won't.

IT'S GOING TO BE AWESOME!

I will make:

Turkey
Gravy
Stuffing (and it is good)
Mashed potatoes
Candied sweet potatoes
jello salad
rolls
green salad (perhaps with shrimp or crab...)
olives
pickles (mom's homemade ones)
Pumpkin pie
apple pie
some sort of green veggie.

I dunno what else. Suggestions?

Cranberry sauce of course.

Do people in Europe celebrate Thanksgiving?

Two European countries have a traditional Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving-esque celebration. In the Netherlands, the town of Leiden holds a church service each year on the morning of American Thanksgiving to commemorate the Pilgrims who left from Leiden to travel to America.
In Germany, a Christian harvest thanksgiving festival called Erntedankfest is celebrated in early October. Like the American Thanksgiving, Erntedankfest also includes large meals.

In England, harvest festivals are common, especially in rural areas.
