This drove a wedge into class difference by eliminating the cause of non-affordable housing: money. What has really caused public defecation to go off the charts is the law against plastic bags. The homeless would line a bucket with a bag, crap in it then toss the bag into the dumpster. Since there are no more bags many don't even bother with a bucket. If you go down the blocks where there are tents the people generally use a bucket in the privacy of their tent and dump it in the street.
