Thanks to the filth homeless transients bring, Los Angeles now faces threat of typhus outbreak

TRASH CITY: ‘Sky-High’ Trash Piles Found In Los Angeles, Raising Concerns About Typhus

NBC4 reported Monday that “sky-high” piles of rotting trash were found around Los Angeles, leading some to worry about a new typhus outbreak.

“Even the city's most notorious trash pile, located between downtown LA's busy Fashion and Produce districts, continues to be a magnet for rats after it was cleaned up months ago. The rodents can carry typhus-infected fleas, which can spread the disease to humans through bacteria rubbed into the eyes or cuts and scrapes on the skin, resulting in severe flu-like symptoms,” the outlet reported.

NBC4’s investigative team said it previously had informed LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office about some of the trash piles in October. The piles they referred to were cleaned up, “but conditions have worsened over the next seven months” the outlet reported. When NBC investigators reported another trash pile, it was told it could be three months before the garbage was removed.

The trash piles — and the rats attracted to them — can cause numerous health problems for the surrounding population. Dr. Jeffrey Klauser, a professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases at the University of California-Los Angeles, told the media outlet that a growing rat population could spread diseases like salmonella and even the bubonic plague.

The problem is not going away soon. They should set up "campgrounds" in public spaces with restrooms, showers, laundry and trash pickup. Connect to the bus lines. (Many homeless people have jobs.)

These Are America's 50 Most Rat-Infested Cities

Read it yourself:

"One study found that Los Angeles is the second most rat-infested city in the country, with New York lagging behind in third place, but Chicago coming out on top with a first place finish."

For the fourth year in a row, Chicago has topped the list of the most rat-infested cities. According to Orkin, the Windy City had the highest number of rodent treatments in both residential and commercial properties from September 2014 to September 2018. Check out these exterminator nightmares that will make you cringe.

"Rodents invade 21 million homes every winter, so even if you live on the West Coast (far away from Chicago), your city probably isn’t completely rat-free. The other rattiest cities that made the top five are Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C., and San Francisco. This Is the Most Rat-Infested City in America

What’s happened to my hometown? It almost makes me cry.

All that garbage attracts rats, which “pose a public health risk,” an infectious disease specialist told the outlet, because the rodents can lead to the spread of salmonella and bubonic plague -- not to mention fleas that have been infected with typhus.

At least nine people were reported ill with typhus in downtown Los Angeles between July and September, with officials pointing to refuse and stray animals as potential catalysts, according to reports from October.

Typhus is a disease caused by bacteria found in infected fleas that can come from cats, rats, opossums and other stray animals. Accumulation of trash or overcrowding and poor hygiene is typically associated with the spread of the disease.

These people create toxic filth wherever they go. They are not "homeless", they are drug addicts and alcoholics.

It's for Soros. Since he lost his chance to finally destroy America through Hillary, he's got his troops (democrat mayors and governors) trying to trigger a pandemic that wipes out 20% of the US population

This is why I only stay in Beverly Hills when I'm in LA.

When the typhus epidemic hits.... it hits everywhere!

It's not like ...ohhhhhhh look that's Beverly Hills .....that's Malibu over there!!!!!! we won't touch those places!!! LOL:21:

in other words, Cali is fucked! :dunno:

Typhus is not a single disease, but rather a group of diseases caused by different strains of bacteria. Unlike typhoid fever, which is spread by person-to-person contact, typhus gets into the human bloodstream through fleas, ticks, or lice. Murine typhus, a rarely fatal strain spread by fleas, is endemic to Los Angeles—it was here long before us and will be here long after us. Epidemic typhus, which is spread by body lice, is exceedingly rare in the United States. It occurs most often in areas of extreme deprivation, such as South Sudan or 15th century Europe, and has a much higher likelihood of causing death.

“That’s not what’s going on in Los Angeles,” Brewer says. “The problem is not the presence of the homeless people that’s causing the murine typhus outbreaks. It’s the presence of the rat-infected fleas.”

Stormy's promiscuous delirium fails to get the point: hantavirus-vectoring Peromyscus is not an urban rodent, so rural is also not safe. Peromyscus as a Lyme disease vector in British Columbia and with global warming, it's a matter of time before cases of California lyme increase along with the typhus. Ticks are the intermediate vector for lyme. Current California typhus is flea-borne.

People in Washington State have been infected with Shigella bacteria, which is spread through feces and causes the diarrheal disease shigellosis, as well as Bartonella quintana, which spreads through body lice and causes trench fever.

I think we are going nuts!
Yes. People who allow this and do nothing but point their fingers and damn the homeless people creating this public health threat ARE nuts. And stupid.

If that were the case, the number would not be growing so quickly at the same time that the cost of rents and mortgages in LA is unreachable. Many homeless these days are working, they are not drug addicts and they are not mentally ill. They are priced out of having a place to live.
