Thanks George, what do you do for an encore?

News flash______ We are fighting Al queda in Iraq...

Al Qaeda in Iraq did not exist until the US invaded Iraq, and did not align themselves with Osama bin Laden until 2004. As it stands now, they operate independently of Osama bin Laden's, or any other ranking al Qaeda leader's, guidance. They are not the same al Qaeda that struck on 9/11. For whatever reason, the members of THAT organization remain at large and have reconstituted their operations in Pakistan...our good friend and 'ally' in the 'GWOT'.

But that's just another episode of "Thank You, President Bush!" (game show music rising in the background)

It existed, just wasn't named and you know it Bully.

No, it simply wasn't there. Saddam ran a Baathist state, he wouldn't have anything to do with Islamicists who would effectively threaten his rule.

But his people would and do. Sorry.

Al Qaeda of Mesopotamia is a relatively NEW organization that was created in response to our invasion and was not even initially affiliated with OBL's organization.

but then....you are this scary spook who can find out IP addresses and license plates and home addresses....I would have thought you would have known that.

For a Naval officer, your not to quick on the uptake when it comes to basic military strategy there are you there MM?

Do you think, that just maybe, we knew our invaision of Iraq would draw that as you called them " relatively NEW organization" (other wise known as Al- Queda) into the war so we could kill them (men that want to kill our children and destroy our way of life) on thier soil!!!!!

I dont care if they didnt affiliate themselves OBL till 2004 or not... they all must die!

Do ya think, maybe?

No. If you think this you put wayyy too much faith in our government.

Yes the original plan was to draw all the terrorist activity into IRAQ which is why we pulled troops away from the boarder of afganistan and pakistan. This worked but not in the way we had hoped. We did draw terrorist groups, but the problem is.....iraq turned into a training ground for terrorists. They dont just go there and stay there, they go and train to kill us in the best possible scenario. Then they head back to the boarder of pakistan as they are now.

Thats why Osama and his followers are at full 9/11 strength and we are stuck in IRAQ.

We got the progress report back today as well, very very bad. And bush, naturally fished for any excuse to put the blame on someone else. He said "congress should not be running this war" well who else is going to fix your problem?!?!?! The military?

Not even half of the 9/11 reform bills have been passed and its been 3 years since they were drafted.

Its pathetic that we cant rally up our president and our congress to at least try and pass the fucking 9/11 security reform bills!

AQ does indeed have a franchise in Iraq....AQ of Mesopotamia is its name.... new organization.... filling a market niche.... there just happens to be 160K Americans to kill there...and there just so happens to be a secular arab government on the brink of collapse there. That franchise is not a global one, however, and will stay behind to make mischief in Iraq long after we have gone.

Oddly enough, a tough strongman would be perfect to repel them and defeat them in Iraq...but ooops...we hung him.

So, you think Saddam was a good leader? Remind me again about the liberal/democrats position on the US Government when it supposedly helped Saddam? You want it both ways?

Ohh wait, now I have done it, you will be in here explaining how you didn't really mean what you said here.

But his people would and do. Sorry.

But he had the place locked down. There was no threat against him. I can only assume that AQ knew that because I don't have any information but his brutally repressive regime brooked no effective opposition. I think most of his opposition was from outside Iraq.

You can't be serious.

Oh really?

You might to pass that news onto CNN

Zarqawi was said to have received medical treatment in Baghdad in May and June of 2002 after being wounded in Afghanistan during the war. His leg was amputated, U.S. officials say, by a surgeon in Iraq.

Before the war, Secretary of State Colin Powell pointed to Zarqawi's al Qaeda-affiliated group that he said was operating inside Baghdad, as evidence of ties between al Qaeda and Iraq.

Powell told the U.N. Security Council in early February that after al Qaeda and the Taliban were ousted from Afghanistan, Zarqawi established a camp in northeastern Iraq to train terrorists in using explosives and poisons.

During Zarqawi's stay in Baghdad, nearly two dozen of his associates set up a base of operations in the capital to move people, money and supplies throughout the country, said Powell.

so...you are saying that we invaded Iraq...spent a trillion dollars... totally destabilized a country if not the entire region, and suffered 28K dead and wounded...all in an effort to go after a handful of deadenders in their final throes, must of whom joined primarily because we invaded in the first place?

and that was a better military move than actually focusing our attention on Afghanistan and the mountainous region between there and Pakistan where we KNEW our real enemies were (and where they still are today - holding public graduation ceremonies for suicide bombers covered by local media)????

You should stick with identity theft and tough guy internet threatening.... and leave military strategy to others.

actually...it is you who avoid taking the fight to the enemy.

pathetic.

your unflagging support for this president and his terrible counterproductive war in Iraq is borderline treasonous.

still sticking with that "AQ joins with Iran and defeats the entire Iraqi population and then rules Iraq against the will of the people in concert with Iran....unless AQ gets too snippy, in which case, Iran will murder them all" scenario?
