I like your choice of avatar to represent the days that you hold dearly as holy.

Mary may have been a virgin....I'm not

My cousin recently converted to Judaism. He's always excited about telling me of history, music, traditions, etc. and I gladly listen. I'm happy for the guy but it doesn't interest me in the least.

P.S. - Happy Hanukkah!

I'm not on so much about the number of threads, just the sheer number of posts that feel obligated to enlighten me/us on what Christmas is all about and how it all started.

It's weird how Christians stole someone else's holiday and all its traditions, called it by a new name, and then have the audacity to judge other people for celebrating it.

Irony. Lulz.

I was just curious Horty....since I have been pretty busy and not around here too much as of late....

How many threads have these athiests started on the topic? I know I have seen your thread on it saying they are bashing your christmas, and I know I have seen foxfyre's thread that she started on the same type thing as this one of yours and I know Yidnar started one, with the same gist.....

but have these so called atheist agnostics pagans etc started threads bashing your Christmas or have they just participated in all the threads those with political positions of the right wing started to stir up the situation????

Outside of those questions, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas Horty andddddddd

MY GOODNESS, on your avatar!!! ;)

makes u wonder if he's gay or straight.

,says the poster with a little boy's naked butt bending over for him
:eusa_whistle:

oh my , do you find childrens butts sexy?

And thanks again for the history lesson.
Never heard it before.

From your OP
Thank you for reminding me that, as much as you don't believe in my Christ, (some of) you have no problem celebrating a day that has His name as the root word.

Your implication seems to be that we should stop celebrating winter festivities, such as solstice, simply because your faith has superimposed your beliefs on top of them. Did I misjudge you?

It would be nice if you could manage to be logically coherent with yourself.

My brain doesn't translate well to the written word.
Some, not specifically you, are quick to rail against Christianity-or religion in general.
It seems hypocritical to be so anti-CHRISTian but be pro-CHRISTmas.
I'm merely referring to the more belligerent posters, i.e. Cammpbell

Ah, I see. Personally, I enjoy the hell out of the entire month between Thanksgiving and New Years. We eat Latkes, we light a big solstice bonfire, and we exchange gifts and eat too much on Christmas.

My parents are taking us all to dinner on December 23, which falls on Festivus. I'm concerned that our dinner may include a little too much "sharing of grievances," though couched in polite, passive aggressive terms.

that's twice I've seen that word this morning.
WTF is it?

Baptist by birth, seeker by nature, atheist by choice...and secure enough to wish each and every one of you a Very Merry Christmas!

Especially those who are so insecure and narrow minded that they are offended by those simple words of good will and good wishes during a holiday season. Remaining unenlightened and clinging to petty intolerance will eat you up inside!

Merry Christmas to ALL!

Festivus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Letkes, not Festivus
:D

OMG, Latkes are delicious.

Potato Latkes Recipe : : Food Network

Jewish people eat fried food at Hanukkah (doughnuts, latkes) to remind themselves of the miracle of the oil in the temple that is the reason for the Hanukkah celebration. Last year, one of my Jewish friends had an "honorary Jew party" at her house for Hanukkah. We ate our asses off.

It's always around this time of year that I feel the urge to pass along my heart-felt thanks to the Pagans, Atheists, Agnostics, and the other flavors of non-Christians.

So,
I'd like to thank you for yet another couple-few weeks out of the month of December where you have taken the time and energy out of your lives to teach me about my religion and the days that I hold dearly as holy.

Thank you for reminding me, AGAIN, of the Pagan roots of Christmas time.
It never gets old for me. :doubt:
Thank you for another year of instructing me on the origins of my tree, mistletoe, ornaments, stockings, etc...

Thank you for reminding me that, as much as you don't believe in my Christ, (some of) you have no problem celebrating a day that has His name as the root word.

Thank you.

I look forward to chatting with you, again, in March or April when you can further teach me AGAIN about the fertility rituals and symbolism as they pertain to Easter.

:eusa_clap:

As a token of my thanks, I'd like to leave you with this:

Romans 14:13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.

:eusa_whistle:

what kind of Christmas tree did Christ decorate?

That was called a cross:eusa_shhh:

I am not a chritian and I started a "War Against Christmas" series.

I had to. It wouldn't feel like the holidays if an actual non-believer like myself gave credit to Christian Paranoia.

Also, I gave the Jesus junkies an early Christmas present to! Now they can point at my posts and say "See what those dirty Atheists/Agnostics think. See how they hate all that is good!?" Thus helping them solidify the idea that it is Jesus(and his followers) against an unholy world.

That is right non-believers! I intentionally made Christmas for the Christians! NAHH!!

I think you're overstating your influence, personally.

Did not Hortysir complain about my posts!?

That proves my influence over him. I bet you wish you had such influence over the Christians like I do!
