Thank God...EPA to scrap stoopid sae auto mileage requirements

I still like California being a leader in air quality and CAFE standards. The entire nation can get tRumped but we will not!!!

Those CAFE standards are written in blood. Do you have any ideal how many deaths are attributable directly to them? Any idea at all?
Now you are mixing fuel with crashes.

They are inseparable....

In 1989 the Brookings institute in collaboration with the Harvard School of Public Health said that a 500-lb weight reduction of the average car increased annual highway fatalities by 2,200-3,900 and serious injuries by 11,000 and 19,500 per year. Then in 1999 USA Today reported that 7,700 deaths occurred for every mile per gallon gained in fuel economy standards. Smaller cars accounted for up to 12,144 deaths in 1997, 37% of all vehicle fatalities for that year. In 2001 the National Academy of Sciences found that smaller, lighter vehicles "probably resulted in an additional 1,300 to 2,600 traffic fatalities in 1993. In 2003 the The National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration study demonstrated that reducing a vehicle's weight by only one hundred pounds increased the fatality rate by as much as 5.63% for light cars, 4.70% for heavier cars, and 3.06% for light trucks. These rates translated into additional traffic fatalities of 13,608 for light cars, 10,884 for heavier cars, and 14,705 for light trucks between 1996 and 1999.

And it goes on and on and gets worse and worse. Today, CAFE standards are killing people at a rate that would make any general leading an army into war proud.

Café standards require that vechicles be made lighter and lighter and lighter....the result is dead people....far to many of them for no good reason.

Here is the missing LINK you didn't post.
And stupid is a self canceling ailment and the standards did not increase the stupids the seat belt and air bag laws did that. And one more thing is that American Thinkere is a reich wing propaganda machine.

Logical fallacy is all you guys have, isn't it....American thinker was just reporting on what The Brookings Institute, The Harvard School of Public Health, USA Today, The National Academy of Sciences, and The National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration found. Any complaints about the research from those institutions, or do you just not believe it because you don't like the people who reported on it? Any idea how intellectually inferior that sort of thinking is?

I do believe I have already addressed that in a prior post. What they have done is to equate increased mileage to accidents.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer are you? When you make a vehicle lighter for the sake of gas mileage, you make it less safe. When you continue to make them lighter and lighter for the sake of gas mileage, you make them even less safe. Now that is not what the American Thinker came up with, that is what all of the studies they reported on said. Of course that isn't really rocket science....most people can easily grasp the concept that if you reduce the mass of an object surrounding other objects, more of the energy experienced by the object on the outside will be transferred to the objects on the inside...result?....the objects on the inside suffer more damage.

School children usually learn this by doing experiments where they build a container for an egg and then drop the egg off a roof or a fire escape and see if their container kept the egg from breaking. Now what happens to the survivability of the eggs if the teacher says that the containers must be lighter and lighter and lighter?

Use your brain for a second and see if you can manage to see the obvious cause and effect at work here...regulation requiring that vehicles be made with ever less, and ever lighter materials.

Study after study has found that CAFE standards require that the mass of vehicles must be reduced in order to meet the standard...reducing the mass of a vehicle results in WHAT if the vehicle is in an accident?...think hard...you can get it...most 6th graders can...

Must be part of the administration's effort to make Venezuela great again.

Could be who knows? But just fantastic news for the American consumer who has been dealing with sticker shock when buying a car for many many years..... due to these gay government regulations to curb global warming.:gay:
There have been a number of studies that have shown that regulations do far more good than harm. Consider what the country would be like without government regulations.

It's comical and sad how Little Donald's supporters think anything he does is going to last. In lest than a year the Congress is out of the hands of the GOP and in 2020 the Democrats win the White House again. But lord how the alt-right thinks they are dragging the entire country back to 1876. Too funny.

Isaac, the model to black and white reasoning!

In lest than a year the Congress is out of the hands of the GOP! Maybe. You don't know that. And if true, you think the public won't go ballistic if the Dems try to slap a bunch of regulations back on us?

and in 2020 the Democrats win the White House again. Sure. You KNOW that too. And with Trump making headway and winning for the people every day of the week.

dragging the entire country back to 1876. Right. Restoring the country back to the highly successful days of a low regulation free market that I knew and loved of the 70's and 80's is dragging us back to horse and buggies and gas lamps? I love how you tards think.

Just for you, a vehicle operator who is in control does not get hit or hit other objects. Hence CAFE does not make a vehicle unsafe the driver does. Please try to understand kindergarden theory.
