Thank God...EPA to scrap stoopid sae auto mileage requirements

Hmmm ...

Muscle car revival? Maybe cars will once again even look dissimilar?

Hood ornaments and rocket fins would be cool.

It would be nice to drive a real car again.....

Ugly piece of crap.

Let me guess....you think the 1983 Dodge Aries (K Car) is the epitome of American automobile engineering....

I had a 60 eldorado convertible in my younger days just like the one above except I had baby moons all around...it was like riding on a magic carpet....and the ladies loved it... By the way...here's your K Car...

Muscle cars? LOL Lead sleds from the past. 13.3 through the quarter for the little Tesla. Those 'muscle' cars wouldn't even stay in sight of an S or X. And now the Roadster will blow away 2 million dollar European sports cars for a tenth of the price. You fellows are yahooing for the return of the horse drawn buggy. In a decade. someone that buys a car with an ICE will be considered mentally impaired.

Guess you never owned a muscle car...clearly you don't get it...and doubt that you ever will...a putz is what you are rocks.....probably been one all your life.

I still like California being a leader in air quality and CAFE standards. The entire nation can get tRumped but we will not!!!

I think old rocks owned a muscle car did but it was about a 100 years ago... then something happened along the way, he got bitter and now he hates anything to do with tradition.... like the muscle car. Some people just get to a point along the way where they hate any guy who makes a profit and the knee-jerk is to look for government to fix every single societal ill.

Laugh out loud.... here's a guy taking bows for living in the biggest shithole state in the country. That state is a few years away from being in Escape From New York condition. And I'm laughing... growing up the standard joke was when was California going to have the big one and fall into the ocean.....who knew back then it would soon be headed for third world status.:deal:

Exactly! Doesn't he know we're gonna run out of oil in the 1960s?

He may have owned muscle, but he damned sure didn't build it...and he never knew what it was about. Going fast was just a byproduct of muscle...you made those cars your own...they reflected who you believed you were....they were an expression....they were art. Shit like the tesla is a socialists dream....all the same...individuality has been completely erased....and it only does a miserable 10.7 in a quarter. Hell, I built a f'ing VW beetle in the 70's that would run 10.2 in a quarter....and I had less than 10K in it including the candy apple canary yellow over a copper undercoat.

Those CAFE standards are written in blood. Do you have any ideal how many deaths are attributable directly to them? Any idea at all?

They are inseparable....

In 1989 the Brookings institute in collaboration with the Harvard School of Public Health said that a 500-lb weight reduction of the average car increased annual highway fatalities by 2,200-3,900 and serious injuries by 11,000 and 19,500 per year. Then in 1999 USA Today reported that 7,700 deaths occurred for every mile per gallon gained in fuel economy standards. Smaller cars accounted for up to 12,144 deaths in 1997, 37% of all vehicle fatalities for that year. In 2001 the National Academy of Sciences found that smaller, lighter vehicles "probably resulted in an additional 1,300 to 2,600 traffic fatalities in 1993. In 2003 the The National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration study demonstrated that reducing a vehicle's weight by only one hundred pounds increased the fatality rate by as much as 5.63% for light cars, 4.70% for heavier cars, and 3.06% for light trucks. These rates translated into additional traffic fatalities of 13,608 for light cars, 10,884 for heavier cars, and 14,705 for light trucks between 1996 and 1999.

And it goes on and on and gets worse and worse. Today, CAFE standards are killing people at a rate that would make any general leading an army into war proud.

Café standards require that vechicles be made lighter and lighter and lighter....the result is dead people....far to many of them for no good reason.

There's no school like old school.

Mustang hits 150 m.p.h. on Colorado interstate; cops give up chase

They should have shot the asshole from the air like in San Bernardino, Ca.

For speeding? How Progressive of you. You do Stalin proud.

For people who claim to be pro peace, anti war, and anti guns, they are sure quick on the trigger for people they find objectionable, aren't they....just like all the great socialist despots...it is a natural progression of socialist thinking.

Guess he can't think far enough ahead to wonder what might happen if a vehicle traveling at 150 mph is suddenly piloted by a dead driver.

Just like they can't think far enough ahead to realize what happens to men, women, and children who are unlucky enough to be involved in an accident in a vehicle that has been rendered unsafe by CAFE standards demanding better gas mileage.
