Gerrymandering goes back literally hundreds of years, TM...the party in power in each State gets to draw up the maps of what area is included in a district. What's happening in Texas is the Democrats are unhappy because the Republicans control the State House at the moment and therefore control redistricting so the Democrats are trying to use Federal courts to impose their own districting map. Sorry but that's Democrats trying to subvert the rules...not the other way around...

Perry signed into law the map from the legislature, the lower court failed to approve it and tried to force their own map (which exceeds their authority), so it goes to SCOTUS.

A Democrat said that it favors Democrats by the courts redistricting.
The legislature had his district fairly at 52.
The court has it at 75 and he said that no Republican could every win with the courts redistricting map.
That is a suppression of Republican votes.
