Texas governor was elect only by hispanics

Object lesson of how immigrants can shape governments future, if immigrants can do that in Texas, why they can't do that in whole country?! It also very sad, that every candidate creates his voters base only from one part of society. 44% will live like they want, but what will do other 56%,

Can't tell if you're for or against the outcome of this election but it seems to me that Hispanics are just as disenchanted by the numerous Obama fiascoes as the rest of the nation is. Sounds like the winner of the election ran a campaign that appealed to 44% of the Hispanics in Texas and that they chose to think for themselves instead of following the Democrat mantra like good, little autobots.

The campaign was much more Hispanic friendly than were those of Perry.

The new gov, if he continues pursuit of the Latino vote will trying to keep pleasing the social cons (the Perry stronghold that give him almost 40% of the vote automatically each time), is correctly responding to the demographics of his state.

This is smart politics by a smart candidate.

If you read the whole article you will discover that only one third of hispanics are registered to vote even though they are a significant percentage of the population and will be the majority by 2020. So in effect he only received the support of about 20% of the hispanic vote in real terms. He did not gain a majority of their support and the anti immigrant policies that he will have to sign into law will be major factors in determining which way Texas goes in the future.

If the gov is smart, he will try to flavor the legal Latinos with some goodies as well. If he kow tows to the white nativist sentiment, Texas will go blue by 2024.

Abbott took 44% of the Hispanic vote, of the Hispanics that voted. Since we don't know what the total number of Hispanic votes was, the 44% is meaningless. Hispanics are very poorly performing voters. They don't vote in their own countries. In mexico, the president was elected in an election in which only 16% of all voters bothered to vote. In some heavily Hispanic districts in the US only 3% voted, that would be 44% of 3%.

Greg Abbot was elected by a very large margin and it wasn't because Hispanics voted for him. The voters spoke. They didn't want Abortion Barbie.

One, we can figure out that the Hispanics voted in twice the percentages and numbers for Abbott then the despised Perry.

Two, every GOP candidate can count on 37% of vote based on social con numbers.

Three, the Hispanic numbers are growing dramatically, the social con numbers are growing far less.

Abbott is very wise to pay attention to Latino needs, very wise.
