The nationwide ceasefire in Syria is ongoing and it is of course a farce because it excludes terrorist groups. But all diplomatic nonsense the West tried against Syria has been a spooky farce so far and we cannot expect any reasonable acting in the future. The ceasefire demanded by the US and France proposed a scenario where terrorists shell the Syrian army while the army has to adhere to the ceasefire. The Russians said they agree if terrorists are excluded and this actually turns the whole ceasefire around.

The US has now threatened to single-handedly intervene in Syria if the government´s offensive in the Eastern Ghouta will not stop.
All that while the ceasefire is ignored in Afrin and the Erdogan forces keep on pushing. The US is very very silent about this.

US warns of action in Syria as it pushes new ceasefire

I wrote this in 2016 and the Kurds should have realized it earlier:

Breaking: Civilians panicly flee US airstrikes as SDF assaults the city. Trapped between US bombs and ISIS booby-traps, the remaining 7000 civilians might be used as human shield by ISIS. Hopefully, this is over soon. The relentless US bombings display the hypocrisy of the Coalition as they seem to reserve the right to bomb civilians exclusively for themselves while the areas bombed by the Syrian forces are vacated, anyway.

US-backed fighters clash with ISIS inside Manbij
One of many faults inherent in human beings is arrogance. There's always someone who thinks the rules don't apply to them because they are somehow superior to others.

Hence the reason war has existed as long as humans have walked the earth.

As you say, hopefully this is.over soon.
There must be a trump for those fighting ISIS as ISIS´s methods cannot be adopted by those who aren´t like ISIS. This is a real dilemma. However, the "Coalition´s" goals are shady and the Kurds must always be aware of that the Coalition is with Turkey and excluded the Kurds from the peacetalks while placing terrorists in front of the government delegation. Since there are also terrorist elements among the Kurds, they will have to struggle to have a say when the cards are played off.

Turkey will never allow a free Kurdistan. Concurrently, Iraq and Iran are no fans of the Kurds either. This idea of a free Kurdistan is a pipe dream which is kept going by powers which use the Kurds for their own end. Everyone realizes this but the Kurds.

Meh...they HAVE killed (PKK/YPG) >25K Turks. Not that the Turks have not meted out their own 'justice'.
I lived in Turkey for a while and the Kurds are not liked...at all. They are not liked so much that you simply do not bring up the subject unless you know the person very well. There is literally no sympathy for them. It's just not practical to consider given the environment.

the Turks are not known for their SYMPATHY with anyone.
Ask the Greeks, The Armenians, ----in fact, ask the Arabs.
It is for the character of the TURKS that I support the Turkish
Kurds-------it takes only a modicum of decency to support
their rights against the TURKS

That's an understatement...not a fan of Turkish culture TBH. I find them to be a bit of a square egg, in that they straddle Europe and Asia, both culturally and geographically. In doing so, they are not 'Muslim' enough for the Asians and not 'European' enough, for Europe. What you get is a rather large, confused child, with a chip on it's shoulder...enter Erdogan.
I agree, the Kurd should receive sympathy. However, their own rage has made compromise hard. Not that the Turks, who are extremely nationalistic would relent anyway.
