CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Five Muslim immigrants were convicted Monday of plotting to massacre U.S. soldiers at Fort Dix in a case that tested the FBI's post-Sept. 11 strategy of infiltrating and breaking up terrorist conspiracies in their earliest stages.
The men could get life in prison when they are sentenced in April.

The five, who lived in and around Philadelphia for years, were found guilty of conspiring to kill U.S. military personnel. But they were acquitted of attempted murder, after prosecutors acknowledged the men were probably months away from an attack and did not necessarily have a specific plan. Four defendants were also convicted of weapons charges...."

This is the best part. According to idiots on this board, waterboarding makes terrorists, and we only have Muslim terrorists because we're in the Middle East. What a crock:

"The government said after the arrests in 2007 that case underscored the dangers of terrorist plots hatched on U.S. soil. Although investigators said the conspirators were inspired by Osama bin Laden, they were not accused of any ties to foreign terror groups."

Waterboarding is waterboarding, and it has saved the lives of untold numbers of people.

Compared to sawing off heads with dull knives, or hacking off the hands of children. Yup, it's really horrible.

waterboarding is torture why cant you just admit that and go with it...as dr phil says...own it...

suffocation is always torture or really kinky sex games

Alright ... prove it. All of you who claim torturing for info has saved lives, prove it. We cannot prove it hasn't because in this matter a lack of proof for it working is proof it doesn't work, so prove it.

"A former CIA agent who participated in interrogations of terror suspects said Tuesday that the controversial interrogation technique of "waterboarding" has saved lives, but he considers the method torture and now opposes its use...
"The former agent, who said he participated in the Abu Zubayda interrogation but not his waterboarding, said the CIA decided to waterboard the al Qaeda operative only after he was "wholly uncooperative" for weeks and refused to answer questions.

"All that changed -- and Zubayda reportedly had a divine revelation -- after 30 to 35 seconds of waterboarding, Kiriakou said he learned from the CIA agents who performed the technique.

The terror suspect, who is being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, reportedly gave up information that indirectly led to the the 2003 raid in Pakistan yielding the arrest of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, an alleged planner of the September 11, 2001, attacks, Kiriakou said...
"The CIA was unaware of Mohammed's stature before the Abu Zubayda interrogation, the former agent said.

"Abu Zubayda's the one who told us that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was so important in the al Qaeda structure, and we didn't realize at the time how important he was," Kiriakou said.

Abu Zubayda also divulged information on "al Qaeda's leadership structure and mentioned people who we really didn't have any familiarization with [and] told us who we should be thinking about, who we should be looking at, and who was important in the organization so we were able to focus our investigation this way," Kiriakou said."

"Does waterboarding work? Without a doubt, yes. Abu Zubayda broke after 35 seconds of being waterboarded and, according to the man who did it, the information he gave let us stop “…a number of attacks, maybe dozens of attacks”.

It's a diversionary tactic to minimize the fact that there are Muslims in the US who want to kill us....not because we're in the middle east, and not because they've been waterboarded, but because they're Muslims and think they're on a mission from God.

In other words, strolling can't accept the fact that we don't make them attack us. Which was what my reference to waterboarding in the original post was about..it was a reference to a past post by some idiot who claimed that waterboarding "made" terrorists.

I watched the video attached to that article and the retired CIA agent claims they got a lot of information from the dude they waterboarded which prevented multiple terrorist attacks and saved lives.

I wonder if the people who escaped certain death resulting from th(os)e terrorist attack(s) that were intercepted and prevented would disapprove of that procedure today.

It's not even being used any more. They used it for a while after 9/11 because of imminent danger.

It consists of strapping a guy to a board and covering his mouth and pouring water over his head for seconds at a time. Boo fucking hoo.

"Lone Surivivor" describes these pieces of shit perfectly. He says that they will hide behind women and children, deny that they have anything to do with bombing/killing anyone....and then go gather up as many as they can and take particular delight in torturing you.

But the minute they get called on their shit and they can't deny it, they will sell out their own families.

These aren't regular military people, and they aren't stalwart revolutionaries. They're sick, cowardly pieces of shit and I have no problem at all with applying a little heat to get them to talk, if we have reason to believe they're holding something back.

If you read the whole article, the CIA agent also said that he underwent waterboarding as part of his training. If we can do it to our guys in training, we can sure as shit do it to the bastards trying to kill them.

Hmm ... so then torture doesn't work on our agents because they practice resisting it, and yet you think that somehow the enemy hasn't already been doing this why?

You're an idiot. There's no question among reasonable people that the use of waterboarding has saved lives.

The only people who contest it are the ones who support the terrorists, either actually or by their undermining of the US.

You fucking idiot. Read the material. It WORKS ON OUR AGENTS. They are exposed to it so they know what it's like and how to apply it. But of course our side isn't trying to get information from OUR AGENTS when it's applied.

Are you really this stupid? Or do you just really hate Americans this much, that you're willing to sacrifice them over something so trivial as a little water in the face? 35 seconds, nitwit.

Um ... but terrorists use torture, so it would be anti-terrorist to be against it and pro-terrorist to be for it.

Of course one would have to actually study the effects of torture to understand it, how many of you have actually done this?

Terrorists kill the people they torture. They don't apply torture for 35 seconds and walk away. They saw off people's heads with dull blades (which, btw, seldom gets reported by the mainstream media you love so much). They chop off the hands of children. They use mentally deficient women and children as suicide bombers, to kill innocent people.

Of course one would have to actually have to care about the lives being lost to understand this, and we've already established you could give a shit about the kids and the women being tortured, killed and blown up by your buddies who cry foul for being waterboarded for 35 FUCKING SECONDS and subsequently spill their cowardly guts all over the place.

Golly, gee, damn. What a wonderful Christian you are. The Spaniards of the Inquisition would be proud of you. And you have zero evidence that waterboarding has saved even one life.
