Syrian Army Making Significant Gains in the Al-Ghaab Plains

The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in coordination with the 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, Liwaa Al-Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade), and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – have made significant progress in the Al-Ghaab Plains, capturing large swathes of territory from the conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates “Jaysh Al-Fateh” over the last four days.

On Friday, the Syrian Armed Forces made significant gains in the Al-Ghaab Plains, capturing Ziyadiyah, the Zayzoun Power Plant, the Zayzoun Dam, Marj al-Zuhour, and Tal ‘Awar after fierce clashes with Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Ansar Al-Sham, and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” throughout the day.

With the success at the aforementioned sites, the Syrian Armed Forces have advanced to the strategically located town of Frikka and the imperative hilltop at Tal Hamki, where they have confronted a large contingent of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jabhat Al-Nusra, andn Jund Al-‘Aqsa combatants – firefights are still ongoing between the two parties.

Despite claims from the Opposition’s social media activists regarding the recapture of Frikka, the Syrian Armed Forces had never actually entered the town of Frikka; it was abandoned by the Islamist rebels and then later, they reentered this town after a short absence.

To the west of Frikka, the Syrian Armed Forces and Jaysh Al-Fateh are immersed in an intense firefight for the towns of Fawru and Al-Sirmaniyah – clashes are still ongoing.

The Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh launched a counter-offensive near the Prophet Younis Mountains in the western countryside of the Al-Ghaab Plains; however, they have yet to make any significant gains, despite claims that they captured Fawru near the town of Joureen.

Jaysh Al-Fateh’s Counter-Offensive in Wadi Al-Ghaab Fails

"The conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates that form “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest) launched an offensive to capture Fawru in the Al-Ghaab Plains on Sunday, attacking the National Defense Forces (NDF) northern flank on the border of the strategically located city of Al-Simaniyah.

This surprise offensive was led by Jaysh Al-Fateh’s two largest forces – Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – who achieved initial success at the Al-Sirmaniyah-Fawru axis, entering this town from its northern border after fierce clashes with the National Defense Forces on Sunday morning.

However, as the firefights between the National Defense Forces and Jaysh Al-Fateh intensified on Monday, the aforementioned Islamist militants were unable to maintain their ground, resulting in their eventual withdrawal before nightfall.

Around 8 P.M. (Damascus Time), the Syrian Armed Forces had declared the town of Fawru fully under their control after they killed a total of 23 enemy combatants from the militant groups in Jaysh Al-Fateh, including a number of foreign fighters from Saudi Arabia and Chechnya.

Meanwhile, at the northeastern countryside of the Al-Ghaab Plains, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in coordination with the 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, the 45th Regiment of the 1st Armored Division, and Liwaa Al-Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade) – continued their large-scale offensive to recapture the strategically located town of Frikka.

According to a military source in Mhardeh, the Syrian Armed Forces pounded the Islamist rebels with mortar shells and rockets at the southern axis of Frikka, Tal Sheikh Khattab, Kufayr, Qastoun, and Mushayrifah in preparation for the second phase of their offensive that includes the recapture of the aforementioned sites."

Jaysh Al-Fateh Charges the Vital Hilltop in the Al-Ghaab Plains

"Two days after the Syrian Armed Forces captured the strategically located hilltop of Tal Hamki, the conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates that form “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest) launched their own counter-offensive on Tuesday morning, attacking the northern perimeter of the hill amid the multitude of rockets and mortar shells raining down on their positions.

Following their initial assault on the northern perimeter of Tal Hamki, the Jaysh Al-Fateh combatants launched another assault before noon on Tuesday; this time, capturing the northern perimeter after fierce clashes with the Syrian Armed Forces that resulted in the loss of a number of their fighters during their second attack on Tal Hamki.

Despite their success, the largest forces in Jaysh Al-Fateh – Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – were unable to secure the southern perimeter of Tal Hamki; instead, they are currently engaged in a violent firefight with the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division and the National Defense Forces (NDF)

Meanwhile, west of Tal Hamki, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in coordination with Liwaa Al-Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade) and the National Defense Forces – continued their progress near the town of Qarqour, killing 18 enemy combatants from Jaysh Al-Fateh, while advancing northwest towards the imperative city of Jisr Al-Shughour.

The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) carried out over 60 airstrikes in the province of Idlib, targeting the cities of Kafr Nabl, Idlib City, Sarmeen, Ariha, Jisr Al-Shughour, Ma’arat Misreen, Ma’arat Al-Nu’man, and Frikka."

Jaysh Al-Fateh Launches Massive Offensive to Recapture Lost Territory in the Al-Ghaab Plains

"The conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest)” has launched a massive counter-offensive inside the Al-Ghaab Plains of the Hama Governorate, where they attacked the Syrian Armed Forces’ frontline defenses at a number of points on Wednesday morning.

Jaysh Al-Fateh – led by their two largest forces: Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – began their counter-offensive at the strategically located hilltop of Tal Hamki yesterday; this powerful assault resulted in the withdrawal of all the Syrian Arab Army’s soldiers to the nearby hilltop at Tal ‘Awar.

Following their capture of Tal Hamki, Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham – in coordination with Jund Al-Aqsa and Ajnad Al-Sham – carried out another powerful assault; this time, at the nearby hilltop of Tal ‘Awar, where they were able to impose full-control over the main hill and its surroundings.

The Islamist forces did not stop there, they would large numerous attacks at the western Al-Ghaab towns of Al-Bahsa, Fawru, and Safsaafa, along with a powerful assault at the Zayzoun Thermal Station and the town of Ziyadah.

Finally, after fours of fierce firefights, the Islamist rebels from Jaysh Al-Fateh were able to seize the town of Ziyadah and the Zayzoun Thermal Station; however, their success was later rewarded with a number of airstrikes from the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF), as the latter would pound their positions for over two hours on Wednesday night.

The situation is currently very tense at the moment, as both Jaysh Al-Fateh and the Syrian Armed Forces battle for control of these contested areas."

Jaysh Al-Fateh Pushing Towards the Latakia Border

"The conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates that make-up “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest) have made a number of advances over the last 48 hours in the Al-Ghaab Plains, recapturing a large swath of territory from the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, the Tiger Forces, and the National Defense Forces (NDF).

On Thursday, the two largest factions in Jaysh Al-Fateh – Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – captured the strategically located towns of Zayzoun and Ziyadeh after fierce clashes with the Syrian Armed Forces.

In addition to their capture of Ziyadeh and Zayzoun, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra – in coordination with Ajnad Al-Sham and Jund Al-Aqsa – took full control of the Zayzoun Thermal Plant, forcing the 87th Brigade to withdraw to the south after the aforementioned Islamist forces pounded their positions.

Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra did not stop there: Jaysh Al-Fateh were able to take full control of the town of Qarqour, resulting in the withdrawal of all SAA and NDF soldiers from the Qarqour-Frikka axis.

According to military sources in the town of Sqaylabiyah, the Syrian Armed Forces and Jaysh Al-Fateh are engaged in violent clashes at Al-Bahsa, Al-Mansoura, and Tal Wassit, with neither party gaining any ground at this front in the Al-Ghaab Plains."

Syrian Army recovers Al-Bahsa as the battle for Wadi Al-Ghaab intensifies

"On Saturday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division – in coordination with the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the 45th Regiment of the 1st Armored Division – carried out a powerful assault at the eastern flank of Al-Bahsa, killing over 25 enemy combatants from the conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest).

Not long after they launched their counter-assault at Al-Bahsa, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to successfully push-out the militants from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – the two largest factions of Jaysh Al-Fateh – resulting in the full capture of this town that sits along Jisr Al-Shughour Road.

To northeast of Al-Bahsa, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces – in coordination with Liwaa Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade) and the 87th Brigade – continued their counter-offensive at the strategic town of Qarqour, capturing more points that were under the control of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Ansar Al-Sham, and Jabhat Al-Nusra.

Jaysh Al-Fateh would not remain silent, however; instead, they launched their own assault on the town of Al-Ziyarah, where they attempted to breach the Syrian Armed Forces’ frontline defenses at the eastern flank.

According to a source from the Syrian Armed Forces, the Islamist rebels were unable to infiltrate the Syrian Armed Forces’ positions at Al-Ziyarah; this resulted in Jaysh Al-Fateh’s withdrawal to the town of Qastoun to the east – clashes have restarted on Sunday morning."

Jaysh Al-Fateh Launches Phase Two of Their Revenge Offensive at Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya

"The conglomerate of Islamist rebel factions known as “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest) launched the second phase of their offensive at the predominately Shi’i towns of Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya after negotiations mediated by Lebanese and Qatari dignitaries failed to satisfy Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham (largest faction in Jaysh Al-Fateh) and the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) terms.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army’s Central Command rejected the terms offered by Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham to facilitate a withdrawal of their Islamist militants from the besieged resort-city of Al-Zabadani in exchange for the lifting of the siege of Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya; this offensive (Al-Zabadani) is still ongoing and reaching the latter stages of the battle.

On Monday morning, Jaysh Al-Fateh – led by Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – began their assault on Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya by launching over 1,000 rockets, missiles, and mortar shells on these Shi’i towns, killing 16 civilians and wounding 30 others before they carried out their ground attack.

Following their ruthless bombardment, the Jaysh Al-Fateh factions charged the towns from all flanks, attempting to break-through the National Defense Forces (NDF) frontline positions.

Initially, Jaysh Al-Fateh achieved some success at the Kafraya-Brouma Farms axis; however, this changed after they pushed too far into NDF-held territory, resulting in the Islamist forces having to withdrawal back towards Brouma Farms.

Firefights are still ongoing between the Syrian Armed Forces and the Jaysh Al-Fateh factions; however, a military source has confirmed that there has been breach in their frontlines at any flank."

Breaking: Syrian Army Captures a Number of Sites in the Al-Ghaab Plains

"The Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces – in coordination with the 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, the National Defense Forces (NDF), and Liwaa Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade) – are rolling this morning in the Al-Ghaab Plains of the Hama Governorate, as they have captured a number of towns and sites around this area.

Following their capture of Al-Mansoura, Khirbat Al-Naqous, and Al-Ziyarah, the Syrian Armed Forces advanced to the town of Tal Wassit, where they stormed Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s defensive positions near the strategic hilltop.

Less than two hours after launching their assault on Tal Wassit, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to impose full control over the hilltop, killing a little over 15 enemy combatants from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra.”

Not long after the capture of Tal Wassit, the Syrian Armed Forces concentrated part of their units to the south, attacking the Grain Silos located directly south of Al-Ziyarah.

Once again, the Syrian Armed Forces were successful in breaching Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra’s defensive positions, resulting in the capture of the Grain Silos.

To the north of Al-Ziyarah, the Tiger Forces and Liwaa Assoud Al-Jabal attacked the town of Al-Misheek, where once again, they were able to overpower the militants of Jaysh Al-Fateh and secure this area.

Currently, the Syrian Armed Forces are pushing north towards Qarqur in the hopes that they can reclaim this town that is located less than 15 kilometers from the strategic city of Jisr Al-Shughour."

Syrian Army Reenters the Al-Ghaab Plains: 3 Towns Captured this Morning

"On Tuesday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in coordination with the 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Brigade, National Defense Forces (NDF), and Liwaa Al-Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade) – launched a surprise assault that concentrated on Jaysh Al-Fateh’s positions in the eastern countryside of the Al-Ghaab Plains.

The Syrian Armed Forces’ assault began around 6:45 A.M. (Damascus Time) on Tuesday, when the Tiger Forces and their allies stormed the town of Al-Ziyarah, resulting in its capture after they overwhelmed the Islamist militants from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, and Jund Al-Aqsa in the surrounding area.

Following their capture of Al-Ziyarah, the Syrian Armed Forces shifted their attention to Khirbat Al-Naqous and Al-Mansoura; these were two towns that the SAA controlled two weeks ago before the conglomerate of Islamist factions “Jaysh Al-Fateh” conducted a large-scale offensive to capture the remaining territory in the Al-Ghaab Plains of the Hama Governorate.

It did not take long for the Syrian Armed Forces to capture Al-Mansoura and Khirbat Al-Naqous from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra, as the aforementioned Islamist groups were once again outmatched by the large contingent of soldiers that charged their defensive positions.

According to a military source in Joureen, the current firefights are taking place to the east of Al-Mansoura; however, he was unable to confirm whether or not the Syrian Armed Forces were committed to another offensive in the Al-Ghaab Plains."

Surprise Offensive in the Wadi Al-Ghaab Nets Significant Gains for the Syrian Armed Forces

"Fresh off a disappointing three weeks in the northern countryside of the Al-Ghaab Plains, the Syrian Armed Forces launched a surprising offensive on Tuesday morning to recapture a number of towns and sites that were seized by the conglomerate of Al-Qaeda factions “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest).

The Syrian Armed Forces did not sit back for too long, however; instead, the latter conducted a powerful assault from their frontlines at the town of Joureen, where they were able to overpower the militants from Jaysh Al-Fateh’s largest factions – Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – on Tuesday morning.

Not long after they began their offensive, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), the 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, Mouqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Liwaa Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade) – stormed the towns of Khirbat Naqous, Al-Ziyarah, and Al-Mansoura, capturing them after brief clashes with the Jaysh Al-Fateh factions.

Following the capture of those three towns, the Syrian Armed Forces – led by the Cheetah Forces (Tiger Forces Brigade) – pushed south towards the town of Al-Misheek, the strategic hilltop at Tal Wassit and the Grain Silos, where they would capture these sites within two hours of their original assault.

The Syrian Armed Forces would then break-off: the Tiger Forces and the SSNP would push north towards Qarqur and the 87th Brigade, NDF, and the Lions of the Mountain Brigade would push south towards Qahira.

Once again, the Syrian Armed Forces found themselves on the move, reaching the southern axis of Qarqur before noon on Tuesday; however, despite the success, they have not captured Qarqur, Qahira, and the Zayzoun Thermal Station

Before the day ended on Tuesday, the Islamist rebel forces attempted to recapture the town of Al-Misheek; but, a source confirmed that Jaysh Al-Fateh does not have control of this town, despite claims by rebel social media activists."

Tiger Forces Advance in the Al-Ghaab Plains

"On Thursday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwaa Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and the 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Brigade – continued their offensive in the northern countryside of the Al-Ghaab Plains, capturing more points from the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh.

The Syrian Armed Forces experienced an imperative break-through on the outskirts of Qarqur, when they infiltrated past Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra’s (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) frontline defenses at the southern axis of the town, killing 17 enemy combatants and destroying three armored vehicles mounted with 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns in the process.

As a result of their successful infiltration into Qarqur, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to secure the southern sector of the town after a series of intense clashes with Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jund Al-Sham, and Jabhat Al-Nusra that eventually led to the aforementioned Islamist factions retreating to the northern farms.

According to a military source in Al-Sqaylabiyah, the Syrian Armed Forces – led by the Tiger Forces and the SSNP – have taken control of 60 percent of Qarqur; however, he did confirm that the Syrian Armed Forces are currently bombarding the town of Frikka and the strategic hilltop of Tal Muntar to the north of their present frontline positions.

In addition to their success at Qarqur, the Syrian Armed Forces also achieved relative success in the southern countryside of the Al-Ghaab Plains, advancing towards the imperative hilltop of Tal Jazram that currently sits northwest of Al-Qahira inside the Hama Governorate."

Battle for the Al-Ghaab Plains Intensifies: Syrian Army Continues Their Offensive

"Last week, not many people would have pegged the Syrian Armed Forces to make a comeback inside the Al-Ghaab Plains’ northern countryside; however, their surprise offensive on Monday morning yielded impressive gains in northern Hama, as they were able to recapture Tal Wassit, Al-Mansoura, Al-Misheek, the Grain Silos, Khirbat Al-Naqous, and Al-Ziyarah.

On Friday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in coordination with 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwaa Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade), and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – continued their assault on Jaysh Al-Fateh’s fortifications at Jazram Hill and the imperative town of Qarqur, where they attempted recapture these sites in the Al-Ghaab Plains.

For the Syrian Armed Forces, they finally achieved a break-through at the town of Qarqur, as they captured the hilltop at Tal Qarqur after intense firefights with the two largest factions in Jaysh Al-Fateh: Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra.

In addition to their success at Tal Qarqur, the Syrian Armed Forces – led by the 87th Brigade at the southern front – were able to secure the northern perimeter of Jazram Hil, killing over 15 members of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jabhat Al-Nusra, and Jund Al-Aqsa before sundown on Friday night.

However, not all the news from the Al-Ghaab Plains was good for the Syrian Armed Forces: the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra carried out a powerful assault on the Syrian Armed Forces’ defensive positions at the contested town of Al-Bahsa – the firefights are still going on throughout the night, as the Islamist rebels attempt to capture this area.

The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) launched a series of airstrikes in the Al-Ghaab Plains on Friday, targeting Jaysh Al-Fateh’s positions at the imperative city of Frikka and Jisr Al-Shughour to north."

Tiger Forces Capture More Territory in the Al-Ghaab Plains: Jubb Al-Za’rzur Under SAA Control

"The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in coordination with the SAA’s 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Liwaa Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade) – continued their offensive inside the northern countryside of the Al-Ghaab Plains, capturing more territory from the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest).

On Saturday morning, reinforcements from the Syrian Armed Forces entered the battle for the Al-Ghaab Plains from their positions at Jubb Al-Ahmar in order to launch an assault on Jaysh Al-Fateh’s two largest factions – Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda organization “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – at the imperative hilltop of Jubb Al-Za’rzur.

Following their arrival to the contested town of Al-Bahsa, the reinforcements from the Syrian Armed Forces broke-away to the northwest, where they launched a powerful assault on Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jabhat Al-Nusra, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Ghaab’s (Hawks of the Al-Ghaab Brigade) defensive positions at Jubb Al-Za’zur, killing an estimated 20 enemy combatants before they were able to impose full control over the hilltop.

Meanwhile, to the northeast of Al-Bahsa, the SAA’s Tiger Forces carried out another assault on Jaysh Al-Fateh’s positions at the contested town of Qarqur; however, both parties were unable to get an advantage over one another during Saturday’s firefights, despite the intensity of the clashes.

The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) continued their relentless aerial campaign over the Al-Ghaab Plains, targeting the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh at Zayzoun, Frikka, the Thermal Plant, Tal Muntar, and Tal ‘Awar in order to deter their reinforcements from arriving to the contested fronts."

Breaking: Syrian Army Launches Offensive in Northeast Latakia

"The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) – has launched a wide-scale offensive at the Prophet Younis Mountains in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside after enduring a six week long attack by the Islamist rebels to recapture the territory they lost during their first Al-Ghaab Plains offensive in June of 2015.

On Sunday morning, this new Syrian Armed Forces offensive got off to a great start, as the latter was able to capture the hilltops of Tal Al-Madourah, Tal Al-Zi’ytariyah, and Tal ‘Antouz after intense firefights with Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and the Free Syrian Army’s “Coastal Brigades” in the Prophet Younis Mountains of Latakia.

This Syrian Armed Forces offensive was conducted after another failed assault by Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jabhat Al-Nusra, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Ghaab (Al-Ghaab Hawks Brigade) to infiltrate into the Jubb Al-Ahmar area of the Prophet Younis Mountains.

To the west of the Prophet Younis Mountains, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces continued their assault on the FSA-controlled city of Ghannam in northern Latakia, destroying two vehicles belonging to the aforementioned units before they launched another ground assault in the area.

Northeast Latakia has recently become the target for the Syrian Armed Forces, as the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh fired a multitude of indiscriminate rockets into the provincial capital last week, killing 8 civilians near the Real Estate Bank."

"On Monday morning, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – captured the fourth hilltop at Jubb Al-Ahmar after destroying a Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) hideout on top of the Prophet Younis Mountains of northeastern Latakia.

According to a military source in Latakia, the Syrian Armed Forces captured the hilltop at Tal SyriaTal, where they killed as many as 20 enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra, the Free Syrian Army’s “Coastal Brigades” and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham before they imposed control over this hill near the peak of Jubb Al-Ahmar in the Prophet Younis Mountain range.

However, the good news was welcomed with some unsettling news from the Syrian Arab Army’s Central Command: the soldiers participating in this offensive at the Prophet Younis Mountains were ordered to stand their ground and halt their advance, despite the rapid progress they made over the last 36 hours at this front.

The reason for the stoppage of this offensive was not provided to Al-Masdar News; however, a military source did add that the assault is bound to begin in the coming hours, as the soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces sit idly near Jubb Al-Ahmar.

In addition to their assault on Jubb Al-Ahmar, the Syrian Armed Forces are attempting to recapture the contested town of Al-Bahsa, which is currently 60 percent under their control; this battle has become the focal point for the SAA’s Central Command in the Al-Ghaab Plains of northwestern Hama."

Offensive in Northeast Latakia Resumes: Syrian Army Captures Raweesah Al-Jourah

"12 hours after they announced the suspension of their offensive at the Prophet Younis Mountains in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – resumed their assault on the Islamist rebel’s defensive positions near Jubb Al-Ahmar.

Not long after they announced the continuation of their offensive in the Latakia Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces attacked Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies from the Free Syrian Army’s “Coastal Brigades” and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham at the Raweesah Al-Jourah hilltop, capturing this site following a brief, but violent engagement between the opposing forces to the southwest of Jubb Al-Ahmar.

According to a military source in the Latakia Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies killed 7 enemy combatants from the Islamist rebel forces before the latter withdrew north towards the remaining hills surrounding Jubb Al-Ahmar’s southern perimeter.

With the continuation of their offensive in northeast Latakia, the Syrian Armed Forces will attempt to zero-in on the remaining hills of Jubb Al-Ahmar in order to reposition themselves to attack the western flank of Al-Sirmaniyah – a town located 2 km south of Jisr Al-Shughour.

The Syrian Arab Army’s Central Command asserted that the suspension of yesterday’s assault in northeast Latakia was due to heavy fog, which resulted in the grounding of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) – without air cover, the soldiers were ordered not to advance."

Syrian Army Withdrawals Most of Their Soldiers from Abu Al-Dhuhour Airport

"The intense firefights at the Abu Al-Dhuhour Military Airport have not dissipated in the last 48 hours, as the Syrian Al-Qaeda faction “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their affiliate group “Jund Al-Aqsa” have taken control of the base

Jabhat Al-Nusra and Jund Al-Aqsa have entered the Abu Al-Dhuhour Military Airport; however, news of its complete capture was prematurely announced by social media activists from the Syrian Opposition; it was captured this morning after the Syrian Armed Forces withdrew to the outskirts.

The primary forces combatting the Al-Qaeda militants are Liwaa Suqour Al-Daher (Al-Daher Hawks Brigade), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Liwaa Suqour Al-Daher is comprised of local fighters from the Idlib Governorate that have taken up arms against the Islamist rebel factions; this group is led by “Abu Al-Jarrah” – a native of Idlib City that once served in the Syrian Arab Army’s Air Defense unit.

However, much to the surprise of the Al-Qaeda militants, the Abu Al-Dhuhour Military Airport does not only house soldiers from the National Defense Forces, Syrian Air Defense, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Daher; this base also houses civilians from nearby villages that assisted the Syrian Armed Forces.

The civilians inside the Abu Al-Dhuhour Military Airport are mostly from the nearby villages of Abu Al-Dhuhour (west of the airport) and Tal Salmu (south of the airport).

The number of military personnel inside the Abu Al-Dhuhour Military Airport is estimated between 600-700 soldiers.

Photos from the Suqour Al-Daher Brigades show that the Syrian Armed Forces are outside the airport, while only a few men stayed inside to allow for their comrades to withdraw."

According to a military source in Latakia, the Syrian Armed Forces destroyed three armored vehicles mounted with a 23mm anti-aircraft machine gun, while also clearing a small hilltop before noon on Friday.

The source added that many of the Islamist rebels killed by the Syrian Armed Forces were foreigners; this included militants of Syrian descent and militants from Libya, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Chechnya, and Tunisia.

Among the reported dead enemy combatants were the following:

  • Mohammad Al-Sawaal (Idlib)
  • Hassan Ghobani (Idlib)
  • ‘Umar Al-Jaali (Idlib)
  • Salim ‘Abeidat (Hama)
  • Hassan ‘Azqoul (Idlib)

Jaysh Al-Fateh Launches a Major Offensive at the Isolated Towns of Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya

"On Friday morning, the conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates “Jaysh Al-Fateh” launched their largest offensive at Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya, attacking these predominately Shi’i towns in the Idlib Governorate from all sides, as the civilian-led National Defense Forces (NDF) – in coordination with a small group of Hezbollah soldiers – defended their positions from every flank.

Jaysh Al-Fateh – led by Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jund Al-Aqsa, and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – began their assault at the besieged village of Deir Al-Zughab, where they encountered a tough contingent from the NDF that was protecting the southern flank near the Factory Checkpoint.

Following their initial assault on Deir Al-Zughab, Jaysh Al-Fateh sent wave after wave of suicide bombers in the direction of Al-Fou’aa, while their combatants waited to storm the town’s southern perimeter, despite the multitude of airstrikes from the Syrian Arab Air Force that would relentlessly pound their positions in Binnish and Idlib City.

All-in-all, the Al-Qaeda affiliates conducted 8 suicide attacks, with only 1 of them hitting their corresponding targets at the town of Al-Fou’aa – the successful suicide attack utilized a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED to strike its target at the outskirts of the aforementioned town in the Idlib Governorate.

At the Suwaghiyah-Tal Al-Khirbah axis, the National Defense Forces fended off a powerful assault from Jund Al-Aqsa after the aforementioned Islamist group attempted to break-through their frontlines repeatedly on Friday afternoon.

As the twilight hours descended upon these Shi’i towns, Jaysh Al-Fateh refused to let up their assault, claiming they penetrated the National Defense Forces’ frontlines at Al-Fou’aa; this was followed by the alleged capture of 13 NDF – these reports were unconfirmed and not reported by sources from inside these towns."
