Term Limits! Term Limits! Term Limits!

Calls for term limits tend to reflect one of (or both of) the following assertions: 1) the electoral process is broken, or 2) the electorate is broken.

Term limits are a pretty ham-handed way of addressing those problems.

The Term Limit debate has two sides.

1) Those who want them because they feel "career politicians" are a big part of the problem.

2) Those who oppose them because they feel it restricts their freedom to vote for whom they want.

But the bottom line is that neither party will ever put them in place. Remember Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America"? Term limits was supposed to be part of that. Guess what? It never happened.

What's interesting though is that some states have put them in place for the state legislators.

.

The basic idea is that Americans are too dumb to know who to vote for. They have to be told, you elected that guy twice, now he is no longer qualified to represent you.

Term limits are for losers thinking that if you continually start from scratch you are better off

Ok get a clue. In order to establish Term limits on Congress would require an amendment to the Constitution. Guess who decides if we ever see an amendment? That's right Congress.

I used to share your view of being helpless, but I do not share that view today.
Once upon a time we used to have to rely on the newspapers owner and editor to print our letters regarding the issues so we could have a voice, this message board proves that’s just not the case anymore.
Today the citizen can make a difference. Our country is slowly sinking and we need to make changes, sitting and complaining about it is not going to work, we need to let our voices be heard.
