So, factor that in with all the other math presented, and you end up with about a 50/50 chance of being deployed.
12.234 guardsman activated. 7000 deployed. That's actually OVER a 50/50 chance.
It would seem that dodging the draft and fleeing to Canada was the safest way to avoid serving.

bush rolled nothing you ignorant fool, the guard numbers in vietnam were a pittance , bush and other rich boys that joined the guard knew they were safe in doing so.

Guardsmen and reservists were, and are, required to register for the draft. All membership does is lower your draft number. All joining the Guard allowed him to do that was different than active duty was stay close to home, and continue his civilian ambitions, in a limited fashion.

It adds percentage points to the odds, but doesn't 'dodge' or 'evade' anything.

This President seems to be way too concerned with promoting himself and his image to actually show some concern for our kids over there. It's all about him at this point unfortunately. when i joined the Marines i had to register for selective service even though as a member of the military i could not be drafted, members of the guard or reserve were not subject to the draft because they were already in the military. having to register is just a bureaucratic move.

The growingly embarrassing aspect of the left and their self labeled "progressive" foresight both politically and socially, is how the Left refuses to see that everything they criticize the right for doing/voicing regarding the President and his policies/ideals, the left did for 8 years under George Bush. It is a carbon copy of partisan politics at it's ugliest. It's these sick displays of partisanship that are turning off so many Americans to politics, when all Americans should at the very least have a toe in the political landscape.

Furthermore, young men are dying defending this country! These young men are allowing you political blowhards the freedom to sit on your fat asses, hide behind a computer, and display childish actions of disagreement. While the Left is crying about something being racist, or the Right is crying about not having a voice, THESE YOUNG MEN CONTINUE TO DIE! That's the reality!

So how about some of you show a tad more respect not only for the men who have died in war, but for this country period. Sometimes putting you political agendas aside and simply speaking on what may be best for every American, not just the ones who reside in your political party, is the right thing to do.

The LEFT and the Right have become embarrassing mirrors of each other, only through different translations. It's about time you start getting your shit together! This country is much bigger than you.

I remember this as well....when our busload of recruits arrived at RTC San Diego several company members had to fill out selective servcie cards AFTER they were already in the service.
