As a very political year approaches an end, and a new presidential election cycle looms, it’s a good time for conservatives to step back from partisan politics and reflect on their cause.

What do conservatives believe? Here are 10 principles worth pondering.

Who in their right mind could not agree with these ten principles?
 
<b>1. God&#8217;s Law Governs Nations as Well as Men.</b>

Nations are governed by the laws of men for a very specific reason. These laws are formulated based upon the the needs of this life in this world and, by and large, are rooted in objective standards. You find arbitrary standards for laws where religion intrudes into their formulation. Religious law is rooted in whatever interpretation of doctrine happens to strike the fancy of the legislator writing the law. It is the ultimate in moral subjectivism. And just which god are you talking about anyways?

<b>2. Life Is the First God-Given Right</b>

That means capital punishment must be banned, since it is not man's place to take it. Wars of aggression...wars of choice are thus an offense to God and the perpetrators of such acts are subject to eternal damnation in the fiery pits of hell. Banning abortion is NOT about protecting human life. It's about relegating women to the status of little more than baby-making machines. Y'all whine and moan about protecting the unborn but do squat all for them after they're born.

<b>3. Marriage and Family Come Before the State and Deserve Its Protection</b>

And this means it should be honored respected and supported, regardless of the form it takes.

<b>4. Freedom of Conscience is the Soul of Liberty</b>

Negated by the first principle.

<b>5. Private Property is the Servant of Freedom</b>

This means eminent domain is an enemy of freedom. So Chimpy McPresident's support of states using eminent domain to sell off large chunks of tax-payer paid for infrastructure to foreign corporations is simply unfathomable.

<b>6. Government Dependency is the Seed of Tyranny</b>

This means we need to wean U.S. corporation from their dependency of corporate welfare at tax-payer expense. Big-oil would simply have collapsed without that $10 billion tax break they got at tax-payer expense...Not.

<b>7. The Constitution Means What It Says</b>

Then Chimpy needs to stop acting like a a royal person and start acting like President and abiding by the constitutional limits on his power.

<b>8. Taxes Are Justified Only to Fund Necessary Government Spending</b>

<blockquote>We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.</blockquote>

So you think you can privatize this? Stop drinking the bong water.

<b>9. National Defense Is Just That</b>

I agree. So we should begin pulling our troops out of Iraq. NOW.

<b>10. We Should Strive to Give Our Children a Better Country</b>

And Chimpy and Co are doing a fine job of that...Aren't they?. Poverty rates up, number of uninsured up, wages flat, budget deficits as far as the eye can see, war without end, If they are allowed to continue on the path they're leading this country down, we'll be speaking Chinese in a generation or two.

I wonder how much of that poverty rate and uninsured has to do with illegals.

I'm not going to defend Bush on any of Bully's assertions. The fact is, Bush has not acted as a conservative on a lot of issues. My solution to the illegals would be to a) stop the bleeding, by erecting two rows of razor wire on the entire southern border, 400 yards apart, with a free fire zone between them and simple ROE backed up by the National Guard: shoot to kill. OK so I'd put signs on the wire every 100' in both languages: "keep out or die". Then b) round up the illegals and put in internment camps, where they build the camps, learn english, US culture and trades, build infrastructure for three years to pay off their debt to the citizens of the US, and if they can pass rigourous testing, let them out of the camps wth a green card. If they stay out of jail keep a job for ten years, then they can become US citizens. Any offspring they make in the meantime incur the same debt, which they have to pay off immeadiatley after graduating HS, and if they don't graduate, their debt doubles.
