Tell us again why government should run air traffic control...

We also have private airlines which carelessly crash aircraft all the time. Way more often than air traffic controllers.

We have drunken pilots. We have pilots playing games on their laptops who overshoot their destination by HUNDREDS OF MILES and intitiate a search because they were playing games.

Hmmmm...

So choose to fly a different airline, a choice you cannot make with the FAA.

That's all you have left, eh?

Name an airline that has not crashed a plane through negligence or carelessness that flies on all the major routes. Besides Quantas, rainman. They don't go everywhere.

Name one airline that was "immediately replaced with a superior competitor" for any kind of fuck-up.

If you don't like a couple guys sleeping during a break at the FAA, take a train.

So you want the FAA to go away and you want several competitive companies to run air traffic control.

No, just the ability to fire a company whose employees sleep on the job.

And you seem to believe that private companies are magically exempt from employees goofing off on the job. We have a drunken oil tanker captain at Exxon who would differ with you.

Stop going to Exxon gas stations. We couldn't do that if government ran all the gas stations.

Oh crap...I think I just gave our central planners here an idea

we assume a private company would do better since it would have competition!!

Imagine someone who jogs for fun and someone who races in life and death competition? Who would be a faster runner? Now you understand competiton and how it makes us better. Not so hard was it?

Assume.

So you guys have no evidence. Just simplistic concepts of "competition".

Simplistic brains hatch simplistic concepts.

yes its simplistic and Republican to assume American cars got better thanks to competition from Japan and Europe.

While no airline has a perfect record, you can CHOOSE the one that meets the criteria for safety/price/convenience that is important to you. See how choice works?

who is easier to fire, a government employee or a private employee?? See why we are positive a liberal will be slow??

So all of your claims were bogus. And now you are backpedaling.

More importantly, there is amble evidence to suggest a private company that faces competition and the necessity to please their customers or go out of business, would run air control better, much better. No private company could possibly do worse, not without being immediately replaced with a superior competitor.

The "amble evidence" show your claims to be false.

Exxon Valdez. Deepwater Horizon. Pilots playing with laptops. Pilots crashing airplanes. Airlines neglecting maintenance and cutting corners, resulting in thousands of deaths in the air and on the ground.

Not one went out of business. Not one was replaced by a superior competitor.

And you thought linking to a Hayek book was WIN!

BWA-HA-HA!

Welcome to the real world, kids.

What? Are you drinking? High? What in the hell are you talking about?

The man's gone delusional.

Please point to my "bogus" claim. I NEVER said a free market provides perfect results, only that there is a method to counter malfeasance when dealing with a private company (namely, choosing a different provider). That is NOT the case with government monopolies where no choice exists.

If that's over your head, there's nothing more we can do to help you.

the airline industry is controlled by the government so it is the last one you should use to help you understand freedom and capitalism. You have to have a liberal IQ to make that mistake.
People assume even after a crash that the government has taken care of it and said they are now safe to fly again.

In a private industry a crash would mean instant bankruptcy and so safety standards would be much higher!!

Maybe they ran better before Reagan fired them?

There is no evidence to suggest that is the case. Zero. More importantly, there is amble evidence to suggest a private company that faces competition and the necessity to please their customers or go out of business, would run air control better, much better. No private company could possibly do worse, not without being immediately replaced with a superior competitor. That's the problem with government run entities, no competition, so no need to thrive or keep costs under control. Hell, just take a nap when the urge arises...what, is someone going to fire the government?!

You are a MAJOR idiot. As a pilot I must say so fuck yourself and spare USMB the ramblings of a pea brain.

Turn the FAA over to a corporation = competition? You are so way past stupid it is astonishing.

That's quite a retort. True you didn't address the point at hand in any way. True your post is nothing but ad hominem attacks, vulgarities and emotional whining, but hey...your spelling is impeccable!

So, you're also saying that Canadian pilots are..."pea brains" and "MAJOR idiots"...because Canada privatized it's version of the FAA some time ago. Since then results have improved.

Oh those stupid Canadians...
