So I've noticed something. A significant number of posts fall into two groups:

The self-proclaimed 'conservatives' (who attached the a word meaning 'opposing change; seeking to restore the old ways; backwards and ignorant' whatever meaning they wish, including the occasional liberal concept) seem to go on and on about 'the left' which is apparently some neo-marxist, conservationist,anti-american element nobody identifies with.

The self-proclaimed 'liberals' (who attach to a word meaning 'upholding liberty, not marked by authoritarianism, free' any meaning they wish, including support for authoritarian regulation, government interventionism, redistribution of wealth, and actual liberal principles) go on and on about 'the right', which seems to be some Über-conservative fundamentalist Christian element which (contradictory to the aforementioned) believes unfettered capitalism, segregation. and theocracy- with which nobody seems to identify.


Do people really only see such stereotypes and extremists, or do they just choose to 'address' such stereotypes to avoid actually addressing 'the other side's's actual position?

Nobody ever saw that particular "clever" usage before.
