"Hispanic teen birth rates in Connecticut are 8.5 times higher than whites' and almost double that
of African Americans for girls ages 15 to 19.

At 13 percent of the state's population, the Hispanic community is growing at a dramatic rate - by
almost 50 percent during the past decade - and experiencing increasing social and health inequities.

Almost a third of Hispanic children ages 17 and younger live in poverty. Almost 22 percent of
all Hispanics have no health insurance. The state's Hispanics had the third highest
unemployment rate in the nation in 2010, according to the Economic Policy Institute, a
Washington, D.C., think tank. Hispanics had a four-year high school graduation rate of 64
percent in 2010, according to state Department of Education data."

The dumbing down of America.

Ok.

What's your point?

I have a point via a few questions ......

IF they kept similar those records back then, and the same scrutiny employed, I suspect you might find a similar article say in any major NY newspaper, circa 1900 to oh 1920 saying same for jews, Italians, Germans, Slovaks ala the euro immigration wave etc.

The difference is, imho of course and one question I ask is- does this generation of immigrant have the same outlook they did? As to Assimilation? Education? Achievement via the 'traditional' methods we have come to understand that propelled generations before them?

Lets say yes they do, Question- how much will the 'safety net' and victimization mantra cripple them?

No one has done a study on corelating the birth rate with the murder rate to find out what the net is. A few birthday parties and the net population of a given neighborhood drops.

They did keep similar records, and there were many similar articles (as well as plenty of articles that were more blatantly racist and jingoist).

(My whole family were Polish Jews who emigrated to the US in the decade before WWII, and I've always been fascinated by the subject. I have many of those articles in my files)

I don't disagree with your premise - it's a topic that I don't have a firm opinion on.

The fact is, the article in the OP says nothing about immigration - it's a story on how prevalent teen pregnancy is among hispanics in CT. Those pregnant 14 year old girls aren't illegal immigrants (their parents might be).

I'd be interested in comparing those rates to those rates of nations where these immigrants originate from.

Are out of wedlock births this common in Mexico and El Salvador or does it just seem like when they come here they're conditioned by the liberal western media to believe it's okay to just "do whatever"?

I wonder.

Ok.

What's your point?
That the gov't is using unfettered illegal immigration to disenfranchise or "checkmate" it's own citizens.

Americans won't vote for more socialism and gov't power? OK, then let hoards of people in who will.

The article in the OP isn't about "immigration".

It's about the epidemic of teen pregnancy among hispanic girls.

Kids will always "do whatever". The claims that "the media" "makes people believe it's ok" are just nonsense.

There were plenty of "teen pregnancies" before there was a "media". In fact, up until very recently, it was an international norm.
