Welcome, everyone. ;)

In this thread we vent our daily frustrations with one another, but we also share our anti-frustrations, which are the good things that happen in our daily lives. When sharing your frustrations and anti-frustrations, it usually looks a little like this:

F: I just pulled my back out today, and the meds are making me sleepy.

AF: Having baked macaroni and roasted chicken wings tonight. Woo-hoo!

That's basically the gist of it, and the sharing of our highs and lows leads to a better understanding of who we are as people. So, if you want to share your life with someone who cares, please stop on in and share the load. :smiliehug:

That's got to suck about the muscle, CK. The worst I've dealt with were some back muscles pulled, but a strained calf muscle sounds way worse. Are you taking pain meds for it?

Sounds good, CK! Life's a blessing.

Nope just iced it for hours the first week. The swelling around the ankle and lower calf is starting to dissipate but it's been a crappy 2.5 weeks. I do not like being taken out of action because of injury. Bums me out. Oh well it will get to 100% eventually.

Well, that's good. Muscle problems suck, especially when they take you out of commission for awhile. In fact, one of my coworkers pulled her whole back out for a week when she tried transferring a client who was dead-weight(unable to help at all). One thing that's kept me going in work is to start drinking milk with whey protein or eat some meat like chicken whenever it starts feeling like the muscles are starting to shrip and give out. I learned that the hard way when I not only pulled multiple muscles but scratched my spinal cord when, of all things, stretching my back and yawning while in class. It sucks like heck.

I'm a bit curious... are you a bicyclist? Sounds like you're athletic.

F: At work currently caring for a man with ALS. He;s not a bad person, but he's understandably depressed with his diagnosis. I wonder what some things could be done to cheer him up, since otherwise he's rather quiet and despondent. ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), is one of the worst diseases out there in my opinion, and I pray for the day someone finally finds a cure for it.

AF: Enjoying the sunlight and the flowers in the man's yard. Speaking of flowers, Gracie's posted a very nice thread on flowers. If you like flowers that's a good one to check out. I noticed that Granny also has a knack for flowers, too. One of my favorite flowers is the purple coneflower for its beauty and versatility, and the 'Red Lincoln' rose.

That's got to be rough. It doesn't sound right that you should have to wait that long to get the results you've been waiting for. It's none of my business, but would you be willing to share a bit more what the potential medical issue you're concerned about? My aunt dealt with 3 rounds of cancer, and my mother's worried she may have it in her body, too... I wish you nothing but the best, chikenwing. Maybe a hot bath would help alleviate some of the stress?

F: This day at work.

AF: The day is almost over.

Ain't that the truth! :eusa_clap:

Another horrible disease. I haven't worked with any ALS people. I work mostly with dementia/Alzheimer's disease people. Either way, the mind and body will be taken sooner or later and then death comes.

Does your person have any mental health resources? Having lived with major depression myself I can tell you that it is a terribly dark, dark place to be and I would not wish it on anyone even in good physical health. As for what you can do other than give positive encouragement I'm not sure what you could do. You might do some internet research to see if you can find something helpful there. I'll give it some thought and see what, if anything, I can think of that might be helpful to you and get back with you via PM.

That's the thing about it, granny. With my former ALS client (now passed), and my current one, both were/are very sharp intellectually. He's very quiet, smart, and wealthy. Only in his 60s, too. He just wants "it" to get over with so he can be at peace. It's an awkward position because I don't want to unintentionally offend him, either.

Thanks, granny. I could use all the help I can get. :smiliehug:

Thanks for your kind words, got the results, needles to say,I now need more tests, they want to do some spelunking to get a better picture, its a colon problem, and I am not real happy with the words the Doctors are tossing around.Time will tell, have to wait almost a week to get into a specialist, and I am on a rush list.

Bad: Foggy again today and I wanted to mess around in the garden.

Good: HUGE yard sale tomorrow in town that I plan to raid.

Ok. But, I'll be a rebel and do it backwards.

AF: I ordered 7 books.

F: I have to pay for those books.

AF: Mom's got a ham in the slowcooker with a bunch of cloves studded in it. Easter's the perfect excuse to pig out on good food in Spring. Speaking of Spring, my rhubarb's reared its little head and is getting ready to raise its little arms up to the sun. My grandfather gave me it. A chunk off the old crown. Now that its been growing for many years its time for me to follow that same tradition and make some rhubarb chunks of my own come November.

Frustration: I wish people would just get along and stop fighting. When I was a child I would fight with my sister and the kids on the block over the pettiest, simplest things. Life would be so much better if we lived and let live, and followed the Golden Rule which, in effect, is one of the better rules man has ever come up with. Life is so unbelievably short. I think I'll go on a walk today, and think about the future...

I hope it all goes well for you, chikenwing. That kind of thing sucks, and I cannot even imagine what you must be going through. You're in good hands, so I'm rooting for you to get through this. :smiliehug:

Mm.... I just love gardening. Do you grow any veggies? Yard sales are awesome because you can buy stuff so cheaply.

Oh gosh, Disir. :D What kind of books are we talking about here?

F: Finals week coming up

AF: I am taking the first block of summer semester off, can't wait to travel.

I'd love to travel, and get back into school. Would you share more on what you're majoring in and where you're going? I'm intrigued.
