Since they hold the power to swing elections they are by far the most dangerous. At least you know where you stand with the other two groups but the Extremist Independent Moderates are a wild card and you can never be sure which way they will swing.

Your scenario only holds water if the Dems were using divisive religious tactics to drive voters to the polls. But that isn't happening. The only area where there is room to drive a wedge is on abortion and Dems are comfortable with the way things stand. Neither side of that issue is going to be cause for the Dems to wage intra-party war such as is currently happening within the GOP.

The extremists on the far left are more likely to be agitated about Keystone and the environment and get pissed off with the Dem establishment bowing down to the Wall Street Casino bosses. But no, there won't be any "self destruct" mode initiated by the "anti-godists" as you call them because they simply don't exist as a political faction of any significance whatsoever.
