Why should we turn our public institutions into armed camps? Why not just remove the guns? Only punks need this weaponry anyway. Why do we all have to be subjected to this for the sake of a bunch of worthless hoodlums?

It's not for the sake of hoodlums. It's for the sake of the innocent people (that they be protected & secure). If there are not any good guys with guns in schools, then nobody there will be protected, and the message the bad guys will receive, is a green light to go to the school and shoot it up (without resistance)

As for the guns, bad guys will get them no matter what law is passed. These creeps have all kinds of creepy places and people, whom they manage to buy guns from. Some are not even in the USA.
