Tempers flared at the local court house in a confrontation between anti-Islamic activists and proponents of a plan to build an Islamic cemetery adjacent to a mosque in Murfreesboro, TN.

The anti-muslim group claim that Islam is not a religion and therefore should not be allowed to zone a piece of mosque owned property as a cemetery.

ah, you had to dig for that one

tsk tsk and so what?

People have to right to contest what's being BUILT in their towns, next to them, etc

just because it's Muslim they aren't automatically given free REIN

Maybe someone will come and open a pig farm next to you where you live

The legal posturing presented by the anti-Islam law suits were based on; "Islam isn't a religion", and therefore doesn't deserve any legal status or protections under freedom of religion statutes. ...

The TP'ers are scared of dead Muslims too?

The 1st Amendment stipulates that the government cannot prohibit the free exercise of religion. Building a cemetery fits within that definition. If the property is zoned to allow a cemetery then the religion of those being buried there should be of no concern at all.

This situation has been going on for a couple of years up 70 miles North of me. They've been trying to keep them from building a mosque because of the suspicious activity that has been going on. Hundreds of Somalis were shipped in from God only knows where and it seems that there is a feeling of entitlement by the folks building the thing. Tempers have flared on both sides.
You never get this sort of thing when any other church opens a parish. Only Muslims.
This is not bigotry. It's fear and a lack of understanding, on both sides.

However, when one of these folks says that Islam is not a religion they're just saying the same thing anyone who believes that Christianity is just a cult based on falsehoods, worshiping an invisible man in the sky, or wearing Magic Underwear.

Oh, and there is nothing about this that has anything to do with the Tea Party, so the OP is being dishonest.

I have heard that when Muslims are buried that weird looking infectious plants grow out of the grave and cause anyone within a 100 yards to turn into a camel................

But perhaps that is folk lore........or an Urban legend.........that's some scary chit man............

Between 2000 and 2008, the immigrant population jumped from 58,539 to 107,184 – an 83.1 percent rise, the fourth-largest percentage increase in the United States over that period.[2] At the same time, the white population of the area fell by 7.5% while the percentage of ethnic minority inhabitants rose to 20% of Rutherford County's population.[3] The local Muslim population has likewise increased and now numbers about 25,000 people. The rise has been driven in part by the arrival of refugees from Somalia and Kurds from Iraq, who were resettled there by the federal government upon fleeing the repression of Saddam Hussein after the first Gulf War. Middle Tennessee now has the largest population of Iraqi Kurds in the United States.[1] A significant number of foreign-born Muslims have also moved to the area to study at Vanderbilt University or Middle Tennessee State University.[2]

never heard of a tea party Democrat. so I have to be some what suspicious ... anyone can say they are from the Tea Party for all types of reasons, some to smear them

The locals are trying to prevent growth of the Muslim population. Right or wrong, everyone knows what happens when Muslims outnumber their neighbors. It's inevitable. As their numbers grow the violence gets worse and eventually they're telling them to convert, pay a tax, leave, or die.

Of course not. I don't think you'll hear much about Tea Party Democrats as long as the left controls the media.

The Tea Party doesn't really exist. They know you can't prove that something exists when everyone knows it doesn't. That doesn't stop them from claiming that Tea Party members are doing this or doing that.
The Tea Party is just a byproduct of the massive spending in Washington. Anyone who begins a club is not sanctioned by anyone.

BS, not that I care, but a cemetery falls under Zoning laws it is not an exercise of religion.
