Tea Party Governor Signs Bill Banning Direct Tesla Sales

Also, if you spend a little extra on the Supercharger option, you can charge at one of the 119 charging stations (in 2015 there will be a supercharging station within range of 98% of teh population) for free for life. Free charging at roadside stations sounds pretty decent to me. You can get a half charge in about 20 mins.

The U.S. should be responsible for about half of Tesla’s sales. Inside EVs has the company selling 3,900 Model S’ in the quarter while Motor Intelligence (aka Autodata) projection is 4,400.

The lack of electric vehicle charging stations along major travel routes in Arizona is hindering sales and functionality of electric cars throughout the state. Without them, drivers are limited to travel within metropolitan areas where stations are more abundant.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy website, there are 275 charging locations with 696 charging outlets in Arizona, excluding private stations. Only 11 of those are outside of the greater Tucson and Phoenix metropolitan areas, according to the department’s map.

How long does it take to charge one of these cars when you pull into one of those stations?

I suppose you never had to replace a car battery...

The batteries in the Tesla are a bit different from regular car batteries.

Yep, about 10 to 15 times bigger and heavier.

Considering they move a heavy luxury car between 265 and 300 miles on a single charge, I would think they would be much bigger and heavier. But the actual size of the Tesla battery is not much. The Tesla Model S weighs 4647.3 lbs. The Mercedes E400 Hybrid weighs 4266 lbs. That is a 381 lb difference.

Would agree that it is unfair to punish Tesla, and quash free enterprise. But I don't believe that Democrats weren't involved in passing this. The big car makers have always sought to quash competition, so they have their pockets in both major parties.

The people of Michigan put them in office, and they can vote them out. This sort of interference with our lives is what true conservatives used to be against. Seems that has changed.

whatever, all this over some foreign car. I think the people are worried over things more IMPORTANT
OMG you are so fucking stupid. The day, The fucking day you start going on about getting government out of private business and how we should be using free markets to solve these issue.

you are the type of person that is so fucking stupid that you would forget the number to 911

You really need to have some PRINCIBLES and stick with them instead of just flying off over any stupid thing because you think it hurts the OTHER party and the people in it
ok who is paying you or you are a plant or sock,,

all this over some frikken CAR. unbelievable
the rest of us are trying to pay for gas and the high price of food to feed our families

And some people are willing to spend $60k or more for a car. Is that bad?

And most utility companies cannot raise their prices on a whim, like happens at the gas pump. And depending on how the electricity is generated, far less of the money goes out of the country.

whatever, You're talking one damn State. Move to one that ok's these cars
simply solution. we aren't all here to please a few of you
you literally have no clue as to what you are talking about. i suggest you go google puppy pictures and call it a day

This solves the question of why the teabaggers are against alternative energy. GM and others have been financing their campaigns. No teabagger has ever had an original thought.

The founders would be in favor of our ideology since we borrowed it from them. They are the original TEA Party!

you same people bitch because people aren't BUYING American and then we have this stupid thread over some "tea party governor" and a damn foreign made car

Are u kidding me? Tesla is made in California . Alzheimer's disease must be kicking in. I mean come on.

Yeah, it is a good bit more than it takes to fill a tank with gas.

But its not as if it stops you from doing things around town. You have a range of between 265 & 300 miles.

But no, it wouldn't suit someone who is in a hurry on a trip.

The point is, there is no solid reason why the gov't should step in and tell companies how they should sell their goods. This is about removing competition, nothing more.

Come on now. It's just real rich people doing what real rich people do.
I thought the Repubs loved them some real rich people. And with the fact that it is Repub governors doing shit like this, I wonder is it is because the Tesla don't burn no oil? Repubs gotta protect the oil industry. And Obama loves electric cars and Repubs have to hate what Obama loves.

Seems like a few reasons for those poor decisions.

Teslas are about as far removed from the free market as you can get.

If Tesla Would Stop Selling Cars We d All Save Some Money - Forbes
If Tesla Would Stop Selling Cars, We'd All Save Some Money
The public is still on the hook for Tesla, and will be for the foreseeable future.

First, there’s the $7500 taxback bonus that every buyer gets and every taxpayer pays. Then there are generous state subsidies ($2500 in California, $4000 in Illinois—the bluer the state, the more the taxpayers get gouged), all paid to people forking out $63K (plus taxes) for the base version, to roughly $100K for the really quick one.

The latest round of Tesla wonderment came when it reported its first quarterly profit earlier this month. TSLA stock darned near doubled in a week. Musk then borrowed $150 million from Goldman Sachs (shocking!) and floated a cool billion in new stock and long-term debt. That’s how we—the taxpayers—were repaid.

Why in the fuck are you picking on rich people? You LOVE real rich people. They deserve EVERYTHING. According to what I read on here. By real rich people purchasing these cars, guess what? For once, you right winger are correct. The real rich are being the job creators for Tesla. And Tesla employs Americans.

And now you right wing hacks want to bitch about that.

And who cares about the tax rebates. Real rich people are looking to take advantage of the tax code every day. And you right wingers support them all the time. Don't you know that it's their money?

You all cry like little babies when the discussion runs to taxing the rich more but you don't want them creating American jobs and using tax rebates to do it. WTFis wrong with you people?
