Taxing just the rich is a futile effort.

I would like to use this tax conversation as a sounding board to ask if there is anyone other than myself about the new public exercise of supporting our troops with private money in order for them to have adequate medical and now just this morning I heard a solicitation for private money to supply our troops with adequate equipment be because our government is doing such a poor job of anything when it comes to our veterans. At this moment I don't care if it is a fair tax or whatever you want to have in place if it is not presently working. Really, do you think the citizens of this country should be ask to put out more money on top of an ever increasing taxation to take care of the medical and equipment that our government should be a absolutely accountable for?! HELP!!!

These folks, the leftwing "little people" simply parrot what they've been told by their "leaders".

You could seize the wealth of ALL the "rich people" and not make a dent in the debt.

If that were done, more than a dent would be made. Consider, not only the $$$ billions of revenue but the 1% would no longer have the largess to bribe members of Congress and State Legislatures to screw the "little people" (the 47% of which I'm sure you are one).

But no one is advocating such a radical plan, it's the radical right who hope to tax the working poor who barely get by (and I suspect you're one who wants to make them pay more).

(sigh) We are TRILLIONS in debt, billions won't dent it. PLEASE read what you type before you post it.

Now, you have zero idea what I advocate, all you know is that I oppose YOU getting more than you've earned.

You want more money, earn it and quit whining.

Every job shipped to a grateful employee in China is one denied to an ungrateful, whiner and complainer like the average degenerate and drug addicted American.

Why do conservatives see the wealthy making more, more, more money by any means at their disposal as good but if their employees merely want their incomes to keep pace with inflation they are greedy whiners?

Mostly because they ARE. The employees could make more money by becoming a more valuable employee, but they want to be paid for complaining. The needs of the employee has nothing to do with the money the company makes. Inflation is CAUSED by rising costs, which includes wages and benefits. The employee demands more, the company raises prices to cover the increased costs, then the employee complains about the inflation of the increased costs.

Yeah, let's become a nation of sweatshops! :clap2:

Yeah, but is sure sounds great to the folks that hate others for what they have.

"Tax the rich" works when your ideology breeds poverty and racism.

Yep, the mendacious and willfully ignorant will never get it. Simply keep repeating the talking point like the parrots they are ("hate others for what they have") is one of many bullshit phrases invented by the propaganda machine.

He's exasctly right too, and your an anus for trying to walk that back now. You hated the rich for the entire time obamie has been waging his class warfare, it's yours doofus you own it.

Honestly willow tree I've never hated anyone. Some I dislike, some I pity (some both, you for example) but hate - nope. You are mendacious (that means you lie) and your ignorance is, I suspect, a congenital condition.

That is their plan, look at that statement closely in light of the fact that worker productivity has always been on the rise while wages have stagnated. Americans have never worked harder for less than they do now yet the story from management is that we are not worth the generous pittance we get now.

Can ANYONE demonstrate how EXACTLY taxing the rich more will ease our debt or make things better? Outside of your own jealousy that is....

Every little bit helps. I pointed out a few things which would also help in reducing the deficit and eventually the debt, but you and others continue to focus on defending millionaires and billionaires and making the working poor pay taxes.

I think that's reprehensible and myopic.

Allowing tax rates to finally return to Clinton levels is hardly socialism, hyperbole is funny.

You demonstrate ZERO knowledge of who and what George Soros is, it renders you irrelevant.

I've heard all the conspiracy theories about him mostly from the same people who think our president was born in Kenya, not really going to give them a lot of credence. I see the guy as a useless political busybody and would be very happy if he would just butt the hell out of politics, the left does not want him or follow him nearly as much as you think they do.
But they sure don't turn down his money, do they?

I agree, let them all expire and also look at spending cuts too.

A balanced approach.

OK, so you definitely want taxes to go up but you only want to look at cuts.
Yeah, that's balanced. If you're drunk.

Let the budget deal kick in. Sequestration, baby. The Dems can run on the resulting chaos.

I did not say look at them without enacting any. Start with the Department of Defense and the sad fact that Congressmen and women spend so much money trying to protect bases and defense contractors in their districts that they force the Pentagon to take more than it needs. That seems like a good start. Also, winding down the wars will help.

And it isn't a tax hike if we are letting the tax cuts expire that weren't meant to be permanent and go back to the levels they were at when the economy was booming.

The Reps want to close some loopholes but the math doesn't add up and it won't be enough. Some painful choices will have to be made.

Ah, the ole charge of "jealousy"!
I think the term "frustration" would be a more appropriate term.
The working class is actually making less now than they were in the 1970s using Real Dollars (constant dollars after inflation). The working class has seen their share of the National Income shrink to record lows. If the working class is seeing record lows regarding their share of the National Income, others are seeing record highs.
I guess in some people's view, the working class should be ecstatic watching their expendable income shrink. They should be happy just to have an income, period.
You know, many of you are talking about yourselves when you are putting down the working class. You just fail to see the irony of reality.

How much money have you sent in? Or are you generous only with other people's money?

It's not that much when compared with the pet billionaires in the republican party. It's pretty shitty when you guys accuse the left of allowing a billionaire to rule them when the rest of them own conservative politics lock stock and barrel. Soros could retire from his mission to save the word tomorrow and we would never miss him but you cannot say the same for the republican tea party and the Waltons and the Kochs and Adelson all the rest who have made you devote all your political energy to keep their tax bill low.

You had some good ideas but meaningless tax hikes that accomplish nothing are pointless and only serve to divide the nation further
