TAXES: what the 1% have paid for 100 years

You blame the 'rich' for the mess that the country is in. That is pure fucking stupidity. You made the claim, you live with it. Making stupid statement about the rich being responsible does not make you right, it makes you stupid.

So who is it to blame for the current mess?

Every one of us played our part in the current crisis. 'We' as a society, being wasteful and running up debts we could not afford. The banks, governments, etc. This is not just our mess, the majority of countries around the world are in the same, if not worse, mess as we are. This was the 'perfect storm' that economist have been forecasting for years. No one listened... except Bush... who, for once in his life, actually did talk sense and actually did try to minimize the impact on the US.... but congress didn't listen.

There are no easy, simple answers as to why this happened.... there are a multitude of reasons but for anyone to say it was the fault of a group of people, namely the 'rich', is beyond stupid.

Please explain how you come to this delusion about Bush and him having complete control of the government and not getting people to listen?

I wasn't talking to you was I? when I wish to reply to your posts I will quote them, which is to say, when I want to have a conversation with a partisan drone possessing an IQ south of your average sedimentary rock I will let you know.

In the meantime, go do something productive with your time, like learning how to tie your shoelaces or emptying your drool cup.

No it isn't dumbass, well except maybe in your pre-kindergarten version of economic theory.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

You dont control the series of tubes taintwallow.

An investor IS a consumer and yes they are part of the consumer confidence number.
ROFLMAO! jesus you are truly hopeless, why don't you actually go try to find out at least something about what the numbers you're are talking about actually mean before you make idiotic statements like this? here's a hint, consumer confidence often (but not always) has a direct impact on investor sentiment and while the consumer confidence index is a lagging economic indicator, the investor sentiment index is a forward looking market indicator.

Here endth the lesson.....

Now why dont you adress your fucking lie about what Care said?
Why don't you try really hard to overcome your chronic reading disorder, just this once, and perhaps read the conversation in it's entirety before you engage in your typical chirping and chattering..... like as in start at the beginning of the conversation and read everything that posted (taking your best stab at doing it with some comprehension this time) before you engage in making your typical stupid comments.

Now as I said before go empty your drool cup.

What do you mean "again"? from what I can tell Truthmatters posts are just one uninterrupted stream of fatuous nonsense.

Perhaps one day, he/she will post something lucid but I wouldn't bet on it. :D

"The Nobel Prize-winning economist and social scientist Herbert Simon estimated that “social capital” is responsible for at least 90 percent of what people earn in wealthy societies like those of the United States or northwestern Europe. By social capital Simon meant not only natural resources but, more important, the technology and organizational skills in the community, and the presence of good government. These are the foundation on which the rich can begin their work. “On moral grounds,” Simon added, “we could argue for a flat income tax of 90 percent.” Simon was not, of course, advocating so steep a rate of tax, for he was well aware of disincentive effects. But his estimate does undermine the argument that the rich are entitled to keep their wealth because it is all a result of their hard work. If Simon is right, that is true of at most 10 percent of it." Peter Singer

Again with the the lack of facts and intelligent thought and insults only.

You are one great big asswink when you cant defend your failed ideas huh?

Now tell me why the 1% tanked the stock market o n us when they were given the sweetest taxs rates in a generation......twice?

Here is a tax breakdown:

Top 1% - Pay 40% of all taxes
Top 5% - Pay 60.% of all taxes
Bottom 50% - Pay less than 3% of all taxes.

To put this another way... lets say you take out your 100 coworkers to lunch. You are the richest person there. You, and you alone, would pay for 40% of the bill. Still think that is fair?

You fricken whining little babies on the left can shut up. The rich pay much more than their fair share of the taxes.

Damn you all are ignorant.

The personally rich we again agree. However I submit that the rich banks etc. had more than their fair share in the mess.

The top 1% own how much of the countries wealth?

The new data also shows that the top 300,000 Americans collectively enjoyed almost as much income as the bottom 150 million Americans. Per person, the top group received 440 times as much as the average person in the bottom half earned, nearly doubling the gap from 1980.

This debate has been gone over time and again on this forum. I am not going to dig out the links to what Bush did during his terms in office regarding the economy. You want to know, you go find it. Fact is, he listened to the economists, he tried to regulate Fanny and Freddie and it was congress who stopped him. That congress was led by the Democrats. Unlike idiot girl, truthmatters who seems to believe that the POTUS is some all powerful supreme being, the President cannot act without congress.

My issue with idiot girl, truthmatters (whose username is the biggest joke on this forum) is that she claims that the 'rich' brought about the economic collapse. She offers no factual evidence to support this ridiculous claim, but - like many in the Obamanation - seems to believe that saying it makes it fact. She is a deluded idiot.

And, grown ups think for themselves - they are not told how to spend their money.... No one forced them to spend money they didn't have. And, the banks wouldn't not have lent to the poor if they were not forced to by government. If you want me to come down on who was MOST responsible for this mess then it is congress who carry that blame - the DEMOCRAT controlled government.

And rightly so. In the case of a complete financial meltdown, they would have the most to lose.

So what you spineless little twit? What business is that of yours? They earned the money, you have no right to determine how much of it they get to keep. What country do you think this is?

Find one founding document that gives you little socialist pigs any right to the rich peoples money?!! If you can't, then shut up and move to a country that lets you take other peoples wealth when you decide that they have too much. My god you are pathetic.

Thank goodness they have that money. That money helps hire people.
You must lead one miserable life with this much anger toward people that have done nothing to you but provide you with a place to work.... if you work.

440 times the amount that the AVERAGE person makes yet they only have to pay 40% of the taxes.

Thats one fricking hot ass deal.

they make 440 times the average American their fair share would be a hell of alot more than 40%.

Funny how you get outraged that the uber wealthy may have to pay more taxes yet you have no problem with the average Joe paying more than their share so the wealthy dont have to pay their share?

For the uber wealthy to pay more taxes for a time and help us pay off our debt and to educate, provide healthcare, rebuild our infrastructure, shore up SS and all the other things this country needs to do to put us on a track to be able to compete in this global economy and suceede.

Once that is all done then they can be lowered to a sustainable level.

The FACTS are that they have benifited by this whole fiasco and should pitch in as much as everyone to get us back up and running strong.

They pay the most taxes because they have the lions share of this wealth which they got from the hard work of ALL Americans.

Funny how you get outraged that the uber wealthy may have to pay more taxes yet you have no problem with the average Joe paying more than their share so the wealthy dont have to pay their share?

In my immature days I was very much like you, except I had much more common sense.

Bottom line you moron is that the rich hire people and pay for the services of people such as yourself. Things are less expensive for you because they pay more than they should.

If you want to live somewhere where you can determine that someone has too much of something then we all wish you would move.

I have a challenge for you, you quivering little jackass.... come to my house and try to take the things I have earned... see what happens.

You sit in your studio apartment paid for by your mother and tell everyone how "someone" should take from the rich, yet you sit there like a little cowardly puppy. Do something about you idiot... cmon!!

I have a 5 year old boy. Thank you for reminding me what I don't want him to become.

a personal insult , how convincing

What things, they ALWAYS pass the cost of anything down
If you want to live somewhere where you can determine that someone has too much of something then we all wish you would move.No , you see we have every right to tax people in this country, why do you insist that the average joe should pay more than the people who gain the most from our system?

I have a challenge for you, you quivering little jackass.... come to my house and try to take the things I have earned... see what happens.OOOHHH big scary guy huh? I tell you what tell that to the Americans who arrest you for not paying your taxes when they come ok?

You sit in your studio apartment paid for by your mother and tell everyone how "someone" should take from the rich, yet you sit there like a little cowardly puppy. Do something about you idiot... cmon!!No I say this from one of my three houses , next week Ill be saying things from my beach house.

I have a 5 year old boy. Thank you for reminding me what I don't want him to become.

Taxes are a part of this country and every American is allowed to speak their minds on them.

This country had 13 years from 1951 to 1964 that saw the top 1% at a 91% tax rate, it was called by the right the golden age of the US.
