Taxes at Lowest Levels in 60 Years

you know Saveliberty....eventually, you will need to support your two contentions...

first that the usa was the 4th highest taxed country in the world for individuals during a period of extraordinary expansion, and second you need to link up this comment of yours above about the tax rate going to 57% from the 35% instead of reverting back to the tax levels people were at, prior to the bush stimulus tax breaks.

Looks like I'll be doing a lot of supporting soon. Health care for ohters at the expense of my own family's, more taxes so government employees don't have to take a pay cut and countless other projects that benefit almost no one. I think it will be obvious enough without me trotting out a graph.

so far, you are REQUIRED to pay for health insurance for your own family....is that a problem?

What part of "soon" is giving you a hard time? I can't afford a tax increase AND pay for health insurance when this happens (in the future).

if you and your family do not make enough to pay for your health insurance in full, I believe there is something called 'affordability credits' that will help families making up to about 80k a year

whether health care reform was passed or not, YOU WILL have to pay more in taxes...the hrc bill supposedly reduces the gvt deficit spending over the 10 year outlay...so it will NOT be HRC that raises your taxes SOON, but all this other spoending that has OCCURRED ALREADY the past 10 years, may affect your tax rate soon.

The HRC is only scores as deficit neutral because it includes 10 years of Tax Increases and only 6 years of benefit pay outs.

Agreed that other spending is driving the issues as well. With the Obama budget sans HRC doubling the national debt in 10 years, with each year's deficit deeper than the worst one under Bush, the resulting debt, and inevitable devaluation of the dollar, will place significant burdens on taxpayers beyond the more apparent tax increases.

The end result is going to be destruction of whatever remaining discretionary income families have been able to preserve, and lower standards of living in support of expanded government. We'll be the first generation to leave such a legacy to our heirs.

It's shameful.

I don't want a government handout. I want the government to stop taking money out of my hand.

So while we sit around and argue which President and Congress is responsible, we sink further into the whole. Stop the madness. NOW! (Sort of the Tea Party battle cry).

I definitely can not afford to pay more taxes at this time, or when the tax cuts expire, though I do understand that we have to reduce this deficit spending/added debt that is piling up.

No President, since World War 2, has reduced spending. We had a Republican Congress, House AND Senate, for nearly 8 years and we still managed to nearly double our national debt.

The GOP had the House and Senate for four years ... 2003-2007

Ok, great... guess who was President and who had the power to veto the budget? Guess who was the President?? Bush! And from 1981 - 1993 - there was a Republican in the White House and our national debt nearly quadrupled!

Exactly Elvis. The suggested rate was 57% from 35. It didn't include sales, state or local taxes. I say go for it and let them tax you for no health insurance too. Remember the joke about how much did you make last year, send it in? Welcome to socialism.

Actually, your family is already paying for someone else's healthcare: The Iraqis. You see, when suicide bombs blow up in Baghdad and the US Military is on scene trying to heal them.... that's US Taxpayer money, $1 trillion worth, paying for the healthcare of Iraqis. It's also paying for the needless war that's gone on for 7 years and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

If you're trying to make me feel better, you suck at it.
I think exiting Iraq starting today is just fine. As far as the hundreds of thousands in innocents, Suddam did that in two years or less, several times over.

Maybe, but we didn't add $1 trillion to our debt when he did it.

Point well taken. Plus, he was way better at it, with torture and all. I used to hear that the reason we were there was to get their oil. How much did we get so far?
