Tax the rich! OK, but then what, Mr. President?

Firefly, do I sense some frustration? If I were to stand up and yell PINKERTONS the whole thread would descend into name calling and no one would put forth any positive ideas.

As a part of any deficit reduction package we should increase taxes. Balancing the budget on the backs of those who can least afford it, seniors and the poor makes no sense. If we are really going to reduce the deficit, the sacrifices should be shared by all.

Right now we are borrowing $2 Trillion over ten years to extend the Bush/Obama tax cuts. Extending those cuts adds to the deficit.

To make a dent in the national debt, we need more money coming in and less going out. If you tie your hands with less income coming in you have to make up for it somewhere. Right now, we just borrow more

No! no! no! no! no!

TAX the poor!

Otherwise they'll just waste their money buying food shelter and clothing in America.

Far better to let the investment class keep still more of their money so they can continue to invest it in debt instruments that blow up in their faces, and foreign industrial production that puts still more Americans out of work.

A very sensible set of policies designed to bankrupt this nation, and its working classes, that is.

If you hate America and what it stands for you gotta give the duelopoly a lot of credit.

When they were facing a positive balance of trade, the thought that they could turn the direction of this most wealthy CREDITOR nation, (once filled with the world's best paid workforce) to completely reverse that trend and turn us into the worlds largest DEBTOR nation, in about two generations! must have seemed like a pipe dream.

But those boys did it!

So let's us all give them a big hand for the last 40 years of determined effort to sink this nation, shall we?

Then let's get serious about the money going out part.

$38 billion in cuts (a lot of which was merely unspent money from the previous year) out of a $3 trillion budget is a joke.

It sure is and will continue to be so until everything in the budget is open for deletion. We will not be able to nickle and dime our way out of debt. Serious cuts need to be made and we have to change our way of thinking regarding what America is

Tax the rich and then what?

Then the budget gets balanced..by Crickey!

How?

What makes you think the so called rich can afford higher taxes anymore than the middle class or the poor?

People's spending rises to the level of their income. We buy more expensive homes and cars. Buy boats and RVs, go on vacations add to our wardrobes.

Pay for healthcare, provide security and education for our families.

What makes you think one class of people has more disposable income than another?

Tax the people 100% so the Government Union Thugs can get their pensions. :fu: Democrats

And Demand more of the same as they bring down the economy...don't these idiots understand that the economy will only withstand so much as they hold their hands open demanding MORE of the same?

When the economy goes bust? Will they turn on the Gubmint that they are in cahoots with?
