It cracks me up to no end. The Democrats are toying with the idea of extending the Bush tax cuts to folks who make under $250,000 and less but not extend them to anyone else. I'm wondering... The people who make over $250,000 a year didn't create the current financial shit storm we are in but yet they are supposed to be it's savior? It would be one thing if the Democrats didn't allow them the tax cut and actually quit spending money that they don't have but we all know that isn't going to happen. A Congress that isn't spending money isn't doing anything. I have a novel idea. Why not start requiring everybody in the United States to pay at least something in taxes? That 49% that pay no income taxes are more of a cash cow for the Democrats than the folks who make over $250,000 a year. Wonder why the "financial experts" don't consider this instead of always trying to lay the burden on the more fortunate.

Well Golly Gee there Count.

If they make that 49% pay up then they probably won't vote for a Dem. LOL

I must have forgotten that the 49% who don't pay taxes are the majority of the power base for the Democrats. The rest of that power base are the actual elected Democrat officials who don't pay taxes... Sorry... Thanks for the reminder.

One thing I've noted is the rhetoric Obama and the Dems have been using.

In his stump speeches last week, Obama started a "those who make over $1M don't need another $100,000 of tax cuts" meme.

Well, what IS the definition for The Rich: over $250K or over $1M in income?

Those who make $250K have much more in common with those who make $190K than they do with those who make $1M - not that such class warfare nonsense should be the basis of public policy in the first place.

The problem for Obama is that there just aren't very many people who make over $1M. The bulk of the tax dollars he wants to mine are actually from upper middle class people who work for a living, hence the $200K/$250K dividing line.

Fortunately, the majority of Americans are waking up to this con game of fomenting class civil-warfare among the middle class.

Certainly. Cutting spending would make a bigger impact.

The size of the government has increased by 25% in three short years. Neither the economy nor the population have grown at rates to justify this increase. Roll back the spending and hold it flat until the economy recovers.

Extending the Bush tax cuts will add $4 trillion to the deficit over the next ten years

Why do we want to borrow money to pay for a tax cut for the wealthy?

$3T of the tax cuts are for those who make less than $250K. $700B are for the upper middle class and above. This is spread out over 10 years.

Obama blew on an ineffective stimulus in one year more than the 10 year cost of tax cuts for the job creating sector of the economy.

We don't need to borrow - we can cut spending. Rolling back spending to 2008 levels would cover the 10 year cost of the upper end tax cuts in less than one year.

So....do we cut spending on those programs that impact YOU, the most......or, do we cut spending on those programs that impact everyone-ELSE, the most???

Seeing-as-how we're discussing "compassionate-conservatives", here.....I'm guessing Republicans feel a $pecial-obligation to our banking-Host to KEEP borrowing.

We wouldn't want to appear disrespectful, or unappreciative, you know..... :eusa_whistle:
