Tattoo Parlors are guaranteed by the Constitution?

Chanel is a small FEDERAL govt. type Father Time. I have great respect for the UNPAID VOLUNTEERS who sit on a LOCAL planning and zoning boards and decide what is best for the community. I have no idea whether they are an R or a D. I can't imagine anyone taking issue with FREE representation.

But your generalization that this is a partisan issue is duly noted. Even though as pointed out, the panel in CA were all R's and the people in Hermosa Beach are mostly D's. Community standards are rarely a partisan issue. I imagine senior citizen communities don't like tattoo parlors either.

They don't usually have to zone them out of the area, though. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that a tattoo parlor in a senior citizen community isn't exactly surrounded by its target audience, and is probably going to go broke. Generally, businesses go where their customer base is, which is why wealthier sides of town have virtually no "payday loan" franchises, thrift stores, rent-to-own furniture stores, etc.

I want to be clear, are you talking about Hermosa Beach being a senior citizen community?

Nope. Apparently, Hermosa Beach DID need to enact laws against tattoo parlors in order to get rid of them, which suggests that the owners thought they DID have a target audience in that community.

True. And I used the senior citizen community just as an example. I'm sure the Amish aren't too interested; nor the Muslims. I have no idea why Hermosa Beach banned them, but I'm sure they had a good reason. As I stated earlier, many towns here just make it very difficult - can't be near school, playground, bus stop, etc.

I checked their demographics, it looks like the majority of their population is under the age of 30. That might have something to do with it.

Well, judging by their demographics, I'm going to say they don't want it because they want their community to be more "upscale" and "classy" than a tattoo parlor would imply.

It looks like a small, white, financially well-off community of single people and childless married couples, mostly. Only 4.6% of their population falls below the poverty line.

Body modification has been going on throughout mankinds exsistance.

I dont understand the need to modify ones body but others do and it doesnt bother me.

Why style your hair, or spend money on fashion? It's all about achieving a desired look or presenting a certain image.
You should see the pictures in my Class of 1975 high school year book! We looked stupid! Big bell bottom pants, puffy shirts, platform shoes. And that was the guys!

All those 'modifications' are now either burned or buried or at the Goodwill or fetching high prices at a vintage fashion boutique.

Tattoos you wear forever. Show them to Saint Peter. No turning back once fashion changes, as it inevitably does.

I'm not Polynesian, a Navy veteran, a long haul truck driver, an ex convict or white trash from the trailer park. Why should I permanently scar my body for fashion's sake?

I personally don't like tats, except cute little ones on the small of hotties backs.
Funny how the conservative small gov morons are the ones who want to have a gov ban this.

The only thing partisan about this topic would be you and Father Time, projecting your own biases onto everyone else. The article says nothing about it being a particular political group trying to ban tattoo parlors. It says that it's the "Los Angeles suburb of Hermosa Beach". It ALSO says that the unanimous decision AGAINST the ban was made by a three-judge panel, all REPUBLICAN. Wikipedia, patron saint of lazy Internet liberals, tells us that Hermosa Beach is occupied primarily by Democrats, as evidenced by the fact that their state legislators are both Democrat, their Congressmember is a Democrat, and in 2008, Obama won 61% of the vote there, to McCain's 36%. Their Cook PVI rating is D+11.

Tell us again how it's "conservative small government morons" who want this ban. Get your boyfriend, Father Time, to tell us how it's "conservative free market supporters" again. More like rich NIMBY leftists, a la the late Ted "no windmills here!" Kennedy.

listen GED slut, you might be too dumb to know that democrats are for civil rights and republicans are the ones wanting to ban anything they don't like. Did your ban education for yourself?

due to the perception that tatoos are somehow connected to low lifes and gangs the tatoo artists, many of whom are really good at what they do, don't recieve the respect they deserve.
