Thousands of Republicans from around the country will descend upon Tampa, Florida next week for the Republican National Convention, and if recent history is any guide, so too will hundreds of protesters.

To prepare, Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee has ordered the Orient Road Jail, a 1,700 bed prison in Tampa, emptied, relocating some inmates to another nearby prison and releasing others on bond. The entire facility has been transformed into a one-stop booking, detention, and bond-issuance center capable of handling large numbers of arrests, which begs the question: will Tampa police keep demonstrators on a short leash?

Sheriff Gee says no, but also indicated in a letter posted on a county website that his department would have very little tolerance for anything more than chanting and holding up signs:

To the agitators and anarchists who want only to bring a dark cloud to this event, let me be clear: criminal activity and civil disturbances will not be tolerated and enforcement actions will be swift.

I guess you decided this needed it's own thread, after you already posted it elsewhere. So be it... same response.

Given the propensity for libtard protestors to get violent, this seems like a prudent move.

I am sooo looking forward to the National Republican Rape Convention (NRRC). Remember to put the kids to bed early. It could get ugly...

If Republican women get raped and knocked up at the NRRC, will they be required give birth to potentially "extraordinary" human beings?

That potential prob is already taken care of: Clinton will be at the Dem affair.....

What ever happened with all the illegal mass arrests from the 2004 Republican Convention in New York? Did some "snatched" people make a "fortune" suing the city?

The NRRC should invite Bill Clinton, give him a bucket of Viagra, and let him improve the gene pool.

They know you're coming....

Just doing their Job Dumb Ass, Your Occupy Fucks have Promised to come and Make trouble, they would be Remiss if they were not taking that Seriously.

What would you prefer the sheriff do allow them carte blanche to anything they wanted? No one is being stopped from protesting but there are limits to what you can do.

The Occupy Movement has promised to show up on Mass and attempt to Disrupt the Convention, They can Protest all they want, but attempting to Disrupt the Convention will get them arrested, Like I said they are just reacting to the Occupy Crowds Promises.

I had a condo in downtown Tampa when I worked at CENTCOM.

I know the liberal kooks will probably tear up Channelside and one of my fav bars there because many GOPers will be there drinking and having a good time.

That jail may turn into a hurricane shelter. Doesn't look too nice for outdoor activities.
