At heart of landmark Supreme Court case: a gerrymandered map that has helped lock in huge legislative majorities for Wisconsin GOP

There have now been three big election cycles since the current Wisconsin map took effect, featuring three very different outcomes at the top of the ticket.

  • In 2012, President Barack Obama, a Democrat, carried the state by 7 points.
  • In 2014, Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, carried the state by 6 points.
  • And in 2016, the two parties finished in a virtual tie for president, with Republican Donald Trump beating Democrat Hillary Clinton by less than a point.
But these partisan shifts had little effect on the battle for the 99-seat state Assembly, where the GOP’s margin of control has averaged more than 20 seats under the lopsided map Republicans drew in 2011.

All the numbers show that the GOP’s advantage is real, it is large and it is much bigger than it

was under the previous map.

Perhaps the Dem should get all the voting info , and we will find out T didn't really win WI or MI.

Remember you won by a gray hair, so don't say Americans want this or Americans voted for T, because most of us did not and frankly we get sick of hearing it. Also you got help by the Russians, and you have the money on your side, and voter suppression and gerrymandering in the GOP states. Remember all that.

Remember you won by a gray hair,

the only thing I won was the ability to say that Hillary is NOT our president.

"Help from the Russians"

"voter suppression"

"Gerrymandering"

Great talking points.

Russians?

the DNC did more to help Trump than the Republicans.

Voter suppression?

the annual boogieman.

Gerrymandering?

Both sides do it, and have for decades.

More money?

Seriously suggest you take a look at what Hilary spent, vs Trump.

Hillary has been involved in presidential elections for nearly 50 years, and she didn't know the Electoral vote is what decides the presidency?

That, my little myna bird, is STUPIDITY

You had lots of big money back T, Vets, NRA, Prisons, Koch brothers, Hannity, Rush , Beck, (3 large mouth bass) Laura Ingraham the biggest large mouth bass , Russian, WikiLeaks, pro Israel jews , and Evans. Not to mention Breibart , and Fox, and voter suppression. All the elites who want a tax cut and cut of regulations.

In Detroit for the recount that started , most paper ballots were unreadable. The machines also backed up in Detroit.

I'm guessing this is yet another topic you know squat about.

Without gerrymandering, voter suppression and downright vote theft, the Repubs could not win.

It's unconstitutional band the opposite of what the founding fathers worked and died for so, of course, the RWNJs are completely in favor of it.

Gerrymandering happens in most states because the politicians draw their own districts. The Republicans have gerrymandered Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida. The Democrats have gerrymandered Illinois, Maryland, and Massachusetts. The only reason the GOP has more gerrymandering at this point in time is because they won big in the 2010 elections across the board and controlled the redistricting in most of the states. There have been times in the past when the Democrats had more gerrymandering in their favor.

Redistricting needs to be taken away from the politicians and given to an independent commission like they have recently done in California and Arizona so that it becomes less easy for partisan political influence to infiltrate the process.

I'd love to see the gerrymandering go away. So long as it's in EVERY state. Massachusetts might suddenly have two REPUBLICAN US Representatives. I literally don't know the last time MA had a Republican representative in Washington.

1) Madame Resident Clintoon basically ignored Wisconsin, so that really doesn't help her cause.
2) Gerrymandering has no effect on the Presidential Election.
3) Gerrymandering by Democrats = Good, but Gerrymandering by Republicans = Bad, right?
4) Dems and Madame Resident Clintoon spent $1.2B trying to buy the election. Didn't work out so well, did it...
