THIS is the kind of materials research that we need to stay economically competitive..
Only problem is -- it was done in Korea..

Cheap, Pressure-Sensing

In a series of demonstrations (published in Nature Materials), scientists at Seoul National University’s Multiscale Biomimetic Systems Laboratory showed off a pressure-sensing membrane that is sensitive enough to feel the fall of water droplets, a human pulse in the wrist, and even the whisper-light tread of a lady-bug walking across the “electronic skin.”

True to its “biomimetic” creed, the group took its cue from the signal transduction systems found in the ear, intestines, and kidney—nanoscopic hairs that interlock and produce signals by rubbing one another when their base membranes dent, ripple, or twist. They also added a self-assembly feature inspired by the locking mechanism on a beetle’s wing.

We better focus on getting innovation fired up in this country and getting our kids into positions that contribute to REAL economic progress..

Despite the disparity in size of their populations, South Korea produces graduates more engineers than does the United States.

So, the answer to the fact that there are several nations equaling, or even bettering us in basic research and development, is to cut the education budget in the US at all levels. Just ask Vice Presidential candidate Ryan about that.

It's amazing what can be done when you're not invading sovereign nations and building drones.

I have a great level of a respect for the East Asian. If we wish to stay ahead of the rest of the world we had better reform our educational system.

Not a dime for welfare mothers unless they try to be a part of their child's life is one thing we can do. Next, is rewarding teachers for doing a good job.

Money is NOT the issue.. It hasn't been.. And I doubt your assertion that ANYBODY running for Fed office wants to "cut education AT ALL LEVELS"...

FOCUS, LEADERSHIP and INNOVATION are the problems.
