Yes, another thread, but this one is astonishing. Sweden is tearing down Wind Turbines, Wind Turbines that have been in operation 15 years!

We are told Wind Power is Renewable, Clean, and Green, but if so why is Sweden tearing down Wind Turbines? Simple, they failed. So, I guess we will never see an end to the manufacturing of Wind Turbines by Heavy Industry, it must go on forever, forever polluting the World, to replace the short lifespan, of a Wind Turbine.

A sad day for the Renewable Energy industry, hopefully an eye opener, although this will not be news on sites that advocate for the Renewable Energy Industry.

Vattenfall Completes World's First Decommissioning of an Offshore Wind Farm

The Yttre Stengrund wind farm had only been in operation since 2001, said Vattenfall, which bought the farm in 2006. The Swedish utility chose to dismantle the entire wind farm rather than replace the turbines with more modern ones for “financial and technical” reasons, it said

“Yes, it may seem a bit of a contradiction in terms but Yttre Stengrund was one of our first wind farms and we’ve learnt a lot over the almost 10 years that we’ve been operating it,”

Later this year, Danish utility DONG Energy will also move to decommission a 4.95-MW wind power facility off the island of Lolland—at the site of the world’s first offshore wind farm.

But even though just a handful of offshore wind farms have been operating for half their 20- to 25-year design lives, offshore wind farm owners should be wary of and prepare for what could be exorbitant decommissioning costs, said consulting group DNV GL in a March 2015 white paper.

This is good, wind farms have uglified the European landscape. I hope they all get torn down.

“Yes, it may seem a bit of a contradiction in terms but Yttre Stengrund was one of our first wind farms and we’ve learnt a lot over the almost 10 years that we’ve been operating it,” she said. “That knowledge, combined with the prohibitive cost and technical difficulty of replacing the turbines, made this a relatively straightforward decision. We have locations with better wind conditions in other parts of the country where we can build new wind power and take with us the knowledge we’ve gained from Yttre Stengrund.”

Now that kind of editing the paragraphs is just another form of lying. That you purposely posted just half of the paragraph demonstrates your basic dishonesty.

Oh, thanks Crock, I will continue, excellent points.

In a rush to build Wind Turbines they placed this one in the WRONG SPOT, as you have highlighted in red.

And in spite of us being told the cost of Wind is now cheap and competitive, we find out that part of the reason they did not replace these is it the prohibitive cost!

“That knowledge, combined with the prohibitive cost and technical difficulty of replacing the turbines, made this a relatively straightforward decision.

Offshore wind is proving to be extremely expensive, it is called salt water, storms, and maintenance on the high seas, you just do not approach these things in a ski boat. You need a little ship.

“The turbines that were installed at Yttre Stengrund were an early model and only about 50 of them in total were actually produced. The difficulty of getting hold of spare parts and the huge cost involved in upgrading the turbines and gearboxes meant that it wasn’t financially viable to replace the turbines,” explained Maria Hassel, who managed the project to dismantle the facility for Vattenfall.

Another part you purposely left out.

No, not at all, I prefer to post the important bits. But you bring up a great point, we are told that once you build a Wind Turbine the energy is free, yet here we see it costs over $1,000,000 to dismantle and dispose of 1 Wind Turbine! Further, they are not lasting forever, giving us clean green renewable sustainable power. They require a massive amount of maintenance, and in this case the original Wind Turbine manufacturer went bankrupt, hence there is no source for parts.

Yes, thanks for pointing out that it is not financially viable to maintain Wind Turbines, so as soon as the Subsidies are gone it is just a matter of a few years before the Wind Turbine must be scrapped.

Old Crock, thanks for making these points on the first page, it would of sucked if they got buried in the thread. You brought up good points. Oh, and I am giving you a winner trophy for finally seeing the light, and because I ran up against another person who was so dumb they made you and even crick look good. Sorry to mention crick in the same post as you, crick is actually really not on the same page as your posts (I am being way too nice).
