Sustainable Living or Lifestyle

OUCH. Sorry to hear. So you use the tin or dry method? Do you now have space for a garden &/or a few animals too?

Sorry, no.

No need to be sorry. Even if you don't do any of these types of practices, there are still ways to support it. Buying 'locally' grown or raised meats & produce either at the farms directly, your local farmer's market, roadside stand or even from a 'Mom & Pop' type store if you can find one, since they are most likely to get their supplies from a local source. This also keeps your dollars local & provides an income source to those that really need it vs buying at major chains or Walmart that any monies spent is feeding corporate profits. And if you still buy into corporate sources, make the healthier choice of organic if at all possible.

The quality of the fuel you put into your body is also what you'll get out of it. Good foods in = good health, bad foods in = heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc...just saying

If all else fails, remember this simple rule---Fresh is best, Frozen is good too, Canned (home or store) is acceptable. Essential vitamins are lost when exposed to heat. The higher the heat &/or longer exposure, the greater loss of nutrients.

Yes, you not only lose nutrients from heat, but you also lose antioxidants. Not much is lost from freezing, and a recent study said nothing is lost by freezing blueberries.

Yes and thank you. At the time, I was thinking about the loss of some of the B vitamins.

B vitamins are easy to replace with sublingual supplements, and usually isn't an issue if you're consuming some raw fruits and vegetables. Bananas are an excellent source. Lack of natural sunlight can result in lower B vitamins, so you might want to supplement in winter when the days are short and the weather is cloudy.

Vitamin D is a lie propagated by the Dairymen of America. Milk is vitamin D fortified and leads people to think they need to drink milk (milk makes a body good, so we're told) beyond infancy. No mammal requires milk beyond infancy.

Only if you get too much at the wrong time of day and don't wear sunscreen.

There's more to milk than vitamin D fortification.

Milk is very nutritious.

For infants! For the remainder of us adults, lots of bovine growth hormone. It does the same in us as it does in cattle, fatten them up fast. And stupid people wonder why they have difficulty losing weight. Yep, it's a mystery, all right. Un huh...
