None of the Securities and Exchange Commission employees caught using government computers to view pornographic images has been fired, according to the agency.

The SEC inspector general investigated 28 employees and five contractors for accessing inappropriate images and Web sites, according to a report released late last week.

Of the employees, eight resigned and six were suspended for periods lasting one to 14 days, the inspector general, H. David Kotz, said in an letter Tuesday to Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa). Five were issued formal reprimands, six were issued informal counseling or warning letters, and three are currently facing disciplinary action.

Federal Eye - SEC porn scandal results in zero firings, agency says

Informal counseling? Hmmmm. I wonder if they'll create a new social service agency to deal with porn addiction for overpaid government workers - the PAFOGW. (Uh oh. Hope I didn't give anybody any ideas)

I believe their punishment was to have their porn collection confiscated by the White House staff for use in an ongoing investigation that will continue indefinitely.

Don't you post from school sometimes? :eusa_whistle:

Really? I think one guy tried to access porn 1800 times. Some of them make over 200K. They should be fired. Certainly the most egregious offenders. Besides that, how dumb are they? They didn't know they could be tracked?

Informal counseling?

That is just retarded.

I can see suspensions as ok, firing is a bit much.

I don't agree...the company I work for has a ZERO tolerance policy for accessing porn sites on company comuters and/or company time. Which means, that even if you brought your own personal laptop to the office and accessed a porn site during work hours, you could and would be fired. I think it's a good policy. It keeps people from doing stupid shit. It protects the integrity of the company network and it's devices and is a good way to keep employees from wasting company time. They have also blocked access to select sites like facebook and myspace and youtube.

I'm a bit surprised that our highly technological government agencies don't have site blocks in place as well.

I'm sorry Ravi. Is USMB a porn site?

Not that its any of your business but I do not use school computers for anything non school related.
Really? I've seen you post during the day so I find that hard to believe.

There's really no difference...doing non-government related things on the clock...doesn't matter if it's porn or USMB.

EZ posts here during her lunch breaks sometimes.

Maybe chanel does too.

If everyone who used the computer at work got fired for using it for non-work things, the majority of Americans with a computer in their workplace would be in the unemployment line.

True story.

Who the fuck looks up porn at work though?

I prefer to come home to the privacy of my own bedroom...dim the lights...maybe fire up a candle or two...

But in the office??? WTF??

Oh well, it doesn't look the SEC did its job at all during the last administration....

And the current administration seems to continue the trend...

The blame game is so much fun...it never ends.

How are they "continuing the trend"? At least they're enforcing the rules now, despite also screwing around on the public dime.

Personally, I'd like to see more of an investigation into the SEC official who let Madoff get away with his crap.

When you've been employed in a career type setting, you MIGHT have a different opinion. And if you ever are brave enough to open your OWN business, you'll most likely view your employees as thieves if they are doing things other than what you are paying them to do. They may not be taking anything from the office, but they are stealing the time you pay them to be there and be productive for your company.

Just sayin. There's a fine line between doing things that are not work related and doing things that are considered a gross misuse of company time. Surfing porn falls in to that category.

Our mayor got taken to the cleaner for talking to men on his computer, they even accused him of being a child molestor. It wasn't until after he died of cancer that the FBI cleared his name.

We are talking about men here, and by the way when all this came out a few years ago people were suspended and at least one quit. This is an old story, and old news.

yeah, now the wh staff will spend hours watching confiscated porn..:lol::lol:
