Surprise! Obama Is Creating More New Jobs Than George W. Bush - Yahoo! News

Even President Barack Obama acknowledges that the economy is creating jobs too slowly under his stewardship. Yet Obama can now boast that more jobs have been created during his first term than during that of his predecessor George W. Bush.

When Bush began his first term in January 2001, total nonfarm employment was 132.47 million. When his second term began four years later, it was 132.45 million, or effectively zero job growth.

Obama's first term isn't technically over yet, but so far, employment has risen from 133.56 million in January 2009 to 134.02 million in the latest report, for December 2012. That's a net gain of about 460,000 or 0.3 percent. As paltry as that is, it beats Bush's first-term performance...

The private sector creates jobs - government jobs are a drain on the private sector; economics 101!

Exactly!!! It is not government's responsibility to create jobs and they are not capable.

Hiring more bureaucrats because of all the oppressive laws they passed is not good for the economy. It's not good, period. His policies have discouraged hiring in the private sector, where all the wealth is created. Expanding government while private sector jobs disappear will bring us down, but that is the real plan.

Government jobs are far superior to most private sector jobs.

Superior according to what criteria?

Compensation relative to productivity? I could see that. From the perspective of semi-skilled worker, government jobs may be preferable to private sector jobs because they get more for doing less.

The private sector on the other hand, by definition, requires the value of productivity to exceed its compensation. It must be this way for economic growth to occur. So in terms of productivity, private sector jobs blow public sector jobs out of the water, across the board.

Sounds like if you're convinced that government jobs are the bee's knees, you're all about the bennies and could care less about actually doing anything valuable.

According to this article the job gains were in the private sector. It also says there are fewer gov't workers than before.

U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time

22 million people are w/o a job.

And liberals MUST point at useless information to make themselves feel better about fucking 22 million people over.

damn you people are evil.

If it happened between 2008 and 2016, Obama did it. He is God, after all.

If it happened between 2000 and 2008, on the other hand, Bush did it. He was God before Obama slew him.

Or, if you don't particularly believe in Executive Branch mythology, you'd recognize that Bush took office in particular market conditions that did not have a great deal to do with him specifically (prior to the depths of the stock bust) whereas Obama took office in different market conditions, which also did not have a great deal to do with him specifically (we had delved into the depths of the real estate bust), and thus is now taking credit (from threads/articles like this, anyway) for everything that has played out since.

The legitimacy of this thread/article is on par with the legitimacy of saying "LOOK WHAT OBAMA HAS DONE TO THE DOW JONES AND S&P!!!!"

It only seems that gov't jobs are preferable to private sector jobs because they get more for doing less when in comparison. But the truth is that with private sector jobs you do far more work for way less wages (ie McDonalds) with little or no benefits to speak of.

The new narrative( or the old one depending on one's perspective) of the liberal of today is , "I don't give a shot about the country. I care for two things. They are as long as I get mine and those who get me mine, keep getting reelected."
The typical unionized government worker has his own self interest in mind. He views his job as an entitlement. His benefactors( taxpayers) are to be treated as mere suppliers of his living standard, which the government worker believes is owed to him. He cares not for the people who pay him. He cares not the cost of his compensation. He cares only about getting...By any means necessary.

Cut the bullshit. That won't fly here.
The facts here are clear. Government employment is a drain on the economy.

So you're making the hilarious mistake of characterizing a McDonald's job as the archetype of private sector jobs generally. Think for a second about how stupid that might be.
