Supreme Court Denies Motion By Republicans To Block New PA. Congressional Map

it's stupid to lie about things which are easily checked.

except with dumbass trumplings like you

you people will believe any bullshit the cheeto shovels
I'm waiting for you to check.....

The Supreme Court on Monday denied an emergency appeal by Pennsylvania Republicans to block the implementation of a new congressional map, a decision that all but assures that new maps beneficial to Democrats will be in place for the 2018 elections.

The state's congressional district map has been at the center of controversy for months, an issue that took center stage when the state Supreme Court ruled the old map an unconstitutional gerrymander and ordered it redrawn earlier this year.

The new map, drawn by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, is advantageous to Democrats and appears to give the party a better chance to win in a handful of congressional seats.

Republicans have been challenging the map in court, arguing that the state Supreme Court erred by not giving the state legislature ample time to agree on a replacement map. But the brief order issued Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court said that Justice Samuel Alito had presented the GOP's emergency request to the court, which denied it.
The decision comes hours after a federal district court also ruled against Pennsylvania Republicans in a related challenge to the map.

The one-two punch by the two courts effectively slams the door on the GOP's legal avenues. The U.S. Supreme Court's denial can't be appealed. And while plaintiffs could theoretically challenge the district court's ruling, the same Supreme Court that just denied the emergency appeal with no public dissents has the final say.

The decisions come just one day before the state's filing deadline for congressional primaries, a deadline that had already been extended while the court battles played out.

Supreme Court denies GOP request to block new Pa. congressional map

I wonder if SCOTUS denied the emergency request simply because they had not gone through the proper appellate course. District Court first.

Well, they did file an emergency request, which would take it to them.

I'm trying to figure out why they didn't want to hear it. Usually,
it means they don't want to go on record for some situation.

I can't figure out what that would be...UNLESS they don't want to
get into the squabble of the PASC usurping the PA Legislature.

The PA Supreme Court took on the role of legislature. The SCOTUS usually doesn't like that. They stay away from that
themselves. If Congress is working on something, they'll let
them work on because it is their job not that of SCOTUS.

AND, one would have to think that time plays a role in this. There
isn't enough time to rework that map, before the primaries.

Interesting ruling. That wasn't really a ruling. They just declined to
hear it.

The reason they refused to intervene is simple. The issues involved are part of the Pennsylvania Constitution not the US Constitution. The ruling was very proper and that was what it was. The US Supreme Court is not going to intervene at any point.

This is a huge step for the country Hopefully other states follow suit. Gerry mandering to win districts is a sad reflection that your policies suck and in order to win you essentially need to rig the system.

Shake it, bake it, toss it and spin it anyway you wish. It still amounts to a bigly loss for President for Life Trump and his Republican cohorts. Thank "god" Scumpty still has Pootie and Facebook. He's gonna need 'em!

Again, I find it repugnant that the judiciary should overrule decisions made by a constitutionally elected legislature.

That's not quite true.

The PA Constitution still must pass the US Constitution test. They cannot
have laws that differ from the US Constitution, in regard to rights.

I don't know what they've done or why they did it...but a SC doing the
job of a legislature doesn't jive.

Life in the big city. Dems can gerrymander GOP cannot. Dems can't stand losing elections. They can go F themselves.

With the exception of your fellow Trump cult members, the entire planet is against you....
Hiding under the bed is your best bet.

The only answer I can think of is to have a photo of trump tattooed to your forehead. I think the Jewish star has already been used.

Then the cult members will know that you stand firmly behind the orange clown....

Great news! Thank you! Gerrymandering must end.
I agree, you will never win an election again.

Gerrymandering and Suppression of Votes

If these two GOP tools are taken away....what is left? Oh yeah....there is Putin! I forgot...:04:
And you still have no chance at all...ask around...people like the new economy and the America first agenda...

Right....that was shown with Virginia....Pa....and hour saintly Roy Moore.

The voters in this country know If he WH is overrun with criminal thugs. They will serve the House to the Dems....knowing full well that trump will be impeached. While several of his criminal children will need pardons. That should REALLY go well with independent voters....

You keep dreaming about a GOP come back in November.
