Supreme Court blocks GOP efforts to redraw congressional districts in Virginia

The dems have some serious problems in Virginia at the moment

The Governor will be fine. The GOP was trying to reduce the influence of the black vote, by drawing the lines to protect the white districts. They lost and the 2016 election will use the redrawn, unbiased districts. That is bad news for the GOP.

Yeah I heard that about Illinois and their dem governors also....have you noticed which party the current Illinois governor is?

Eventually the GOP nominee will have to talk about cutting government which affects millions of Virginians….it never goes over very well.

Supreme Court upholds Virginia redistricting

"Curses, Foiled Again!" The Republican Party is running out of options to suppress the rights if voters.

As if the D's never gerrymander districts. Check out Luis Gutierrez (D Chicago).

Of course they gerrymander districts. The real losers in all these absurdly shaped districts are the American people. It is why we get stuck with these career politicians assholes whose only concern is feathering their own nests and the nests of their friends. The insanely high incumbency rate is a direct result of these noncompetitive districts.

Take at a gander at this gerrymander:

Which is why we need to add voice to the Constitution—it is silent on this topic as it is most of the pressing issues of today. Whenever a politician (or either stripe) can slant the playing field…they do. Dem/Rep…it doesn’t matter.

What we need to do is this. Take the ZIP codes and rank them A-J. A would have the larger populations and J would have the least. Lets say a state has 10 reps. Each one draws ZIP codes at random …and they become the Representative for that district and all of those ZIP codes. If the State has 25 reps, you rank them A-Y. Three Reps? A-C.

Contiguous districts seem to be totally unimportant anyway so what would be the logical argument against this?

That is certainly an interesting way of drawing the districts. It certainly couldn't be any worse then the parties drawing up nonsense to protect their fiefdoms.

That's outrageous.

That's outrageous.

I know, right? Many of the PA's districts have equally silly shapes. Most people do not care so long as their party gets to break open the bubbly on Election Day. Fools.

As America continues to become more diverse and inclusive, such tactics by republicans will eventually fail to win them elections.
