Supporting the slave trade? Chocolate lovers, how ethical are you?

When you are so poor that every person in the family needs to work, union-imposed sanctions are a death sentence

Except that's not what happened in the USA or England

Malaysia's problems stem in large part from the lack of meaningful democracy

Exactly. Democracy. Not socialism.

You don't know what those words mean, do you?

communism, like republicanism, and also many forms of socialism (some would argue all true forms of socialism) is a democratic system

You don't seem to grasp the difference between democratic type and Democracy (form)

That's if you're dealing with socialism as a form. Then there's socialism as a stage of scoioeconomic development.

For example: The US was founded as a Republic (form), which is a democratic (type) system- in this case, representative, as opposed to direct, democracy. It is a socialist (stage of development) society, as evidenced by social security, the VA, food stamps, collective fire companies, the Interstate, urban electrification, various market regulations, the Clean Air and Water acts and everything else that separates us from modern China.

A chocolate boycott is something I badly need to do. Only problem is that the worst offenders in my world are the ones not being the problems in the third world.

I do get it. And it's the terminology and circle talking that leftists use to push their agenda.

A cynic would say, that contemporary Americans educated in engineering/industry-sectors are not anymore worth their high-wages. US companies outsource to regions where the same products with at least same quality can be manufactured at cheaper costs.

The trick is to establish brands, which everyone wants to buy or which only some can manufacture. In which sectors are the Americans leading? Maybe Intel-chips, what else?

Look at Germany, with all their evil Unions, labor-rights and employer-financed 30 days holiday in the year. The US system is counterfeited by none anymore, all those countries which went the same way like the US now have the same problems.

I'm fine.

My favorite chocolate is Green & Black's, which is Fair Trade.

But I do need to check Charles Chocolates status. Their triple chocolate nuts are divine.

Unions are why the manufacturing sector has been decimated. Want to know why all the jobs left? Ask the unions.

Not true.
It's the biggest union in the world, and represents for example Germany's automobile and machinery sectors, which are highly successful in export and continue to be an economic-motor for Germany.
Not all Unions, just like not all Corporations, are created equal.

Unfortunately, the UAW's shortsightedness is only rivaled by the leadership of GM.

I just bought a 2011 Volkswagon Jetta and I have to wait until mid december to get it because it's on a boat from.... MEXICO! Volkswagon couldn't afford to have them made in the US or Canada where the costs of labor are 3 to 4 times more. So am I glad it's made in Mexico? Hell yes, if it was made in the States it would have easily cost me $5K more.

Been shopping for 2010 compact cars...the American models, save the Ford Fiesta (which is really European), simply couldn't compare with the Asian manufacturers.

My next car will be Japanese or Korean.
