see this is were the departure from reality occurs ,the main economic engine in this country is NOT the fortune 500 companies its the XYZ paving,or blabalba construction Joe's widgets that employ 50,100,200 employees. Blabaering on about fact cat CEO's shows a stark lack of what really is going on.

And who gets subsidized? Is it small businesses? Small farmers? HELL NO. The mega-corps sure do, though, and they set it up this way to eliminate competition. It very much is at the very heart of what is going on. They are the ones paying for the legislation to make it so. Does McDonalds REALLY need subsidies from the SBA (yeah, that SMALL business administration) to open franchises? I think not. Wonder how much they paid for that little gem of legislation.

No they just get visits from OSHA.MSHA ,EPA and auditors, and they never leave without some money first.

Bush's business growth was a huge cronyism and corruption bubble, and Obama's job losses are really Bush's of course. Thanks for the depression and mindless obstruction, GOP. Assume the position, a-hole Pubs and silly dupes....

Hmmm, I have two friends that each have their own small business that combined employ around around 500 folks. Their profits are at record levels, they are expanding and they are happy. But then, this is the Minnesota Socialist Republic, so what do you expect?

Good for them, what industry/service are they in. Always nice to hear about people advancing themselves.

As always there are some that find the silver lining,or make very wise choicses in hard times and do well lots of smart people out there.

My point is a very large portion of people don't understand what really drives the economy, its not the big companies, even if they have the money and power to sway politicians.

And just WHO do you think PAYS for most regulation? Yes, some is put in place due to companies behaving badly or polluting... and those are necessary, but MOST are bought and paid for by mega-corps. Look around you. It isn't the government stifling competition. It's big business. Look at the organic movement. You have to pay upwards of $750 a YEAR to sell anything grown organically if you make more than 5K. Did the government pull that out of their ass? No, big agra paid for that, to the detriment of small organic farmers. Now Monstanto is trying to pass legislation to make farmer's markets and backyard gardens illegal. And that is not even the tip of the iceburg.

Those people don't need more production obviously.

If losing potential work is not worth the hiring of the required labor to do it, I'd suggest they liquidate and get out asap. Someone else with a better business model will do it.

If we had a decent honest GOV,that wouldn't happen,I am not saying corps like Monsanto/Cargill are not a problem they are Its still the responsibility of the Gov to NOT be in thier pockets.

You gotta quit reading these fucking idiot right wing sites. They rot your brain. "Uncertainty" is bullshit. And many regulations come from the court, not Obama or the congress. Try to figure out why.

Instead, go to someplace like the "Main Street Alliance" which really is "small business".

The poll found that small business owners’ main concern is weak customer demand, not regulations. When asked what would do the most to create jobs, small business owners’ top response was eliminating incentives to move jobs overseas. Reducing regulation came in fifth place. In fact, most small business owners see government standards as an important tool to level the playing field with big business.

Poll: Small Businesses Say Weak Customer Demand, Not Regulations, Their Problem

Read this. It's COMMON SENSE. There is no way you can argue with common sense. Well, if you're a right winger you can. Obviously. But we can always hope.

Paying 8 bucks for a gal of "organic milk" and feeling good about yourself doesn't help.

What ever the market will bare.

Which is why we need to get special interest money out of government. This is exactly what OWS was all about.

I buy it so that I'm not drinking growth hormones and antibiotics from sick cows eating corn that shouldn't eat corn (gmo corn, no less - I don't want that either). I buy local when I can, and unpasteurized when I can even though it's illegal (thanks to the dairy industry)! Has nothing to do with "safety" and everything to do w/ squelching competition, as I was saying.
