How exactly would that work? Banks will then just charge sky high interest rates would they not? I get loans and I get pell grant but the loans FAR outweigh my pell grant...its going to be ridiculous at my age when I am done to pay off over 50k in student debt...we are buying a home and I won't be done for 3.5 years and wife won't be done until December with college so I need no decent credit once I get the loan for the home in about 18 months since the realtor wants us to pay off the down payment of 5k first.

No, no, no. The standard conservative talking point is that businesses charge based on how much their costs are. If college tuition is high it's because the costs are too high, with a good chance that the business is being taxed too much. To lower tuition costs we should lower the minimum wage and provide tax breaks for colleges so they can pass the savings on to the consumer.

Colleges are already getting tax breaks and subsidies. Even as they sit on hundreds of billions in endowments. Yet the costs for their services are going up multiple times of inflation. That's due to govt guaranteed loans. Costs always go up when govt money is involved.

Then why aren't we charging 5-18 year olds for education? ALL education should be completely without charge,most asinine thing I have ever heard of,charging people to become more successful. Their parents and other property owners pay that tab. Education is an individual State function, it's not a constitutional federal function. All federal education spending should be stopped, the last 40+ years proves the feds are totally ineffective in improving educational outcomes. Reagan should have ended the dept of ed like he said he would.

I support garnering wages, taking bank accounts, repossession of property and even indentured servitude to force people to pay back their student loans.

I paid mine back in less time than it took me to get my degree. Of course my student loan debt was less than $2500.00. Mostly because I got a technical degree that was associated with actual job skills, not some ridiculous degree that take 4-5 years and has no sustainable career path at the end of it.
