Assuming this is real, the professor is an idiot.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if the student were potentially subject to a failing grade, or other disciplinary action, for releasing private emails between herself and the professor.

It must have been extraordinarily frustrating for the student, but she should have kept things in-house, unless both the professor and university refused to take action until she made the incident public.

The professor should at least be made to provide a decent apology to the student.
