student escorted out of class for not saying the pledge

A right to an education has been deemed not a fundmental right.

What's the difference between a "right" and a "fundamental right" ?

In my state the public school system is a constitutional requirement

"Section 1. The legislature shall provide for the education of the people of the state and shall establish and maintain a public educational system."

State Constitution of 1974 > Article VIII:  Education

Hey they don't have to say the Pledge. They can find a private arabic school that better serves their allegiance.
The unidentified student was not ascribed any religious background. Your slip is showing, dear! Why would you assume she was Arabic? Maybe you're just upholding the stereotype of bigotry the Right is saddled with.

Fundamental rights are protected more. There are 3 levels of scrutiny (really tests) on each law or government action when denying or providing for a right. Strict Scrutiny (government nearly always loses), intermediate scrutiny and Minimum (Rational Basis Test - government nearly always Loses).

A right to education falls within the rational basis test

Brainwashing? Shooting people in the streets? My my aren't we dramatic? Please enlighten us with specific examples of "children" being harmed by the flag salute. In this country please.

I am a parent and a teacher. I "brainwash" kids every day to say "please" "thank you" and "God Bless You" when somebody sneezes. It's called showing good manners and respect - even when its simply rote.

Sheeez.
Excuse me, your post is ambiguous, I'd like to know if as a teacher you are telling students they must say "God bless you" when someone sneezes.

It has never been a constitutional right dumb ass. Obscenity (or sexually illicit material), especially at SCHOOLS, is NEVER protected speech!
WTF? We are talking about the pledge, doofus. Oh, wait...maybe you are trying to say the pledge is obscene.:lol::lol:

Profanity in the classroom is what I thought your were taking about. Sorry for the incorrect assumption! You know what happens when you assume too much you become the first 3 letters!

Did you think engrish lit classes just SKIPPED OVER the beat poets, you dumb fucking jew?

Perhaps you don't realize what kind of dirty shit Shakespearean material really is...

well, makes sense.. his name wasn't Shakespearstein. I'm sure you'd know THEN..

In all fairness, do you think a cross is the appropriate monument to erect to fallen soldiers? Especially considering that many of those fallen soldiers where not Christian? Or was the intention to honor only Christian soldiers and to exclude all other fallen soldiers?

Soldiers erected it and maintain it. that makes it appropriate.
It certainly does not give reason to remove it.
