Strong Solar Power Panels igniting Birds. Stupid Global Warmer losers.

They are losers. They are hypocrites. They are unable to think for themselves. For Gods sake they still think the "climate change" thing is real.

I guess they have abandoned the"global warming" myth, since in fact it is no longer called that. They believe the hole in the ozone has been patched up since no one brings that up anymore. They certainly don't fear the earths end through acid rain since we do not hear anything about that anymore. Not for 30 years.

They also OBVIOUSLY abandoned the global freezing claims by their types in the early 70s.

Wrong claim after wrong claim and scam after scam revealed and they still think you and me are the knuckle dragging morons since we are not on the latest bandwagon.

They are losers. They are not worth a warm bucket of spit.

Wow. That's one of the most thorough confessions of complete ignorance I've seen in a great long while.

There should NEVER EVER be licenses granted for locating these solar death rays on a know migration route or critical habitat.. All those Govt "ecologists" become stupid, deaf, and mute when the applications come in for Wind or Solar facilities.

It's the same kind of bureaucratic negligence that caused the Eastern Bloc ecological disasters under the old Soviet Union.. We need to DEMAND that these agencies do their job without BIAS or hypocrisy...

And just a clarification. These Solar Thermal Tower Death Rays are not "solar panels". They are not semiconductor convertors.. They are simply huge MIRRORS that are servoed to focus on the tower. And from a bird's perspective, they look a lot like a "lake" in the middle of the desert. There is no good way to prevent this carnage.

BEST way is to let this experiment FAIL on it's own.. Which it is doing spectacularly at IvanPah.. No matter how many speeches Obama makes at the opening of these Death Ray sites --- they are STILL pretty much doomed if the technical issues are not worked out..
What the hell, Mr. Flacaltenn? This is the drivel I expect from jc and company, not you. The engineers solved the problem the same day that it was found. Not only that, but because of the advances in the photovoltaics, this type of installation will probably not be built again. If more are built, they will not be as you described, because the problem was addressed and solved by engineers. As an engineer, you should know that.

Yeah its a big conspiracy bird deaths everywhere. :alcoholic: Meanwhile even in the northeast solar panels are going up all over the place. There is a farmer near me that has had an array of solar panels powering his buildings going on seven years now, in a place that gets massive amounts of lake effect snow. The cows walk around it like its not even there and the snow hasn't hurt it.

I know solar isn't some panacea answer for energy but it works as a nice compliment and it isn't going away despite how much you idiots try to paint it as a detriment to society that isn't viable. Same with windmills for fuck sakes farmers have been using them for over a century and now they aren't good. lmao

Snow doesn't hurt it huh?? How much power do you get on a day when there's even a "dusting" of snow. .If the farmer WANTS to be in the energy biz -- that's his choice. But he's only producing 6 hours a day and in a lake effect shadow up North --- about 200 days a year.

The ignorance is monumental here on the Renewy's side. A 100 years ago wind pumped WATER not electricity. And WATER can be stored -- for fuck's sake. It AINT the same thing as relying on the wind to power a 7-11 store where there is NO storage if the wind stops.. Pumping WATER is a GREAT idea for wind. If you need to have an average amount of water over a week or a month...

Given your reputation for veracity, link?

Yes, it truly is amazing the level of sheer ignorance that is displayed on this subject. When i get a dusting of snow on my panels I get ZERO, ZIP, NADA, juice.

Yep.. That's what I feared.

raking-snow-off-panels.jpg

That's way more than a dusting. I meant it when I said "dusting". Just the slightest bit and we get nothing. We have loads of dust here as well. I clean the panels once a week and my normal efficiency is around 11%. By day two that has dropped to 9%. By day seven it is hovering between 4 and 5%. Granted my panels are older than dirt, but even the modern ones have trouble with the dust.

One of the schools in Carson City got a huge solar array and they used to have the real time energy production graph piped to the City Hall so that everyone could see it. That lasted for all of a month when they saw how bad they were doing they disconnected the live feed. Chickens!

There was no ONE-DAY solution to the problems at IvanPah. Where the hell did you get that idea? What was this MIRACLE solution that you claim happened?? It never did..

I think he was referring to using NG to create steam to run the generators to make up for the lack of solar steam generation... The solar ones are producing just 27% of what they said it should.. Engineering failure!

The NG capacity was designed in from the start. I'm sure the group has a VERY long list of stuff to fix and stuff to figure out. They won't be calling it quits until the Gates get locked and the Tortoises are let back in...

Because CSP does not work is why this will not be built again, somehow investors are reluctant to invest in proven failures.

The important selling point of these CSP designs was that they could EXTEND power generation past the 6 hour sweet spot of PV panels. That would be in the form of heat STORAGE in molten salts and other materials. (Since other solar thermal designs use DISTRIBUTED heating out in the actual mirror field- storage is not as easy to accomplish as a central tower design, but has been done).

But for some reason -- IvanPah was built WITHOUT considerations for extended hour thermal storage and instead relies on "coasting down" with Nat Gas at the end of the day. Just like it "primes up" in the morning with NG..

Okay, here's on-topic. The net is filled with studies, reviews, papers and data that show fossil fuels kill many, many times more birds and wildlife that do either wind or solar. This sort of material has been posted for you repeatedly, yet you still start threads whining about bird deaths from windmills and have not said one word about animals killed by fossil fuels. Hard to believe you're actually motivated by care for the animals out there.

So... who exactly is the hypocrite here?

O once again...because birds are killed by the primary power sources, you think that makes it OK to kill more with wind and solar which provide a minute fraction of the power we need? What kind of thinking is that?

That fossil fuel is being used by the Solar and Wind heavy industry to manufacture their death machines, hence a fair percentage of those deaths are directly due to the use of fossil fuels by the Solar and Wind Heavy Industry.

Confessions of gross ignorance, Part II.

SSDD had a post here a second ago, suggesting that we thought it was okay to add more bird deaths by these new technologies that produce only a small fraction of the Earth's power needs. He should have checked all the links above. The second gives bird deaths per GWhr produced. Guess who wins and guess who loses? If you want to minimize wildlife deaths we'd replace all fossil fuel with wind and solar

Solar is not manufactured? Silica is not mined? Indium production in not critical to Solar?

Wind, Billions of tons of Wind Turbines does not use billions of tons of Coal?

It is not mandatory to increase the rate at which you produce Solar Panels and Wind Turbines?

It is telling that those who support Wind and Solar must deny that they are even manufactured, they appear magically.

You are not very smart, first you would have to increase the use of fossil fuel to manufacture wind and solar, hence you would increase bird deaths, and at the same time, you would kill even more birds in places they were never killed before.

To save the World we must destroy the World.

Why can't we get more power production out of those darned ferral cats?

All Solar is a failure. Ivanpah was their last big shot, and it failed. Sure they can dump trillions of dollars into Solar, but all that will do is bankrupt us and leave us powerless.

Perhaps not, but you've repeatedly demonstrated that I seem to be orders of magnitude smarter than you.

first you would have to increase the use of fossil fuel to manufacture wind and solar, hence you would increase bird deaths, and at the same time, you would kill even more birds in places they were never killed before.

You admit here that fossil fuel power kills more birds per kilowatt than do solar and wind. Good, you're making progress. Let's take these in order.
1) You're contention that manufacturing solar (now PV) and wind turbines represent a huge and significant increase in the world's manufactured output and the power it consumes. That is not borne out by the facts. You've been repeatedly informed that all the CO2 emissions produced by the manufacture of a wind turbine will have been saved 6-7 days after it goes into operation.
2) As wind and solar have increased their share of the world's power supply, the number of bird deaths per GWhr has steadily decreased.
3) With present technology, the best possible solution for wildlife and carbon emissions would be for all power to come from wind and solar and other alternative technologies. We're working on that as quickly as we can.
4) All life dies. Anywhere life exists is somewhere it has died.

To save the World we must destroy the World.

This from someone who wants us to remain with the technology that has been demonstrated to maximize harm in a multitude of ways.
